Understand the product. It is powered by an electric motor. So, I let it start, get up to speed, and then load the leaves. If you put the leaves first, it may be a big load on the motor when starting, and cause the wiring to deteriorate. I also made sure the chopped leaves on the ground did not get too high and block additional choppings from dropping. If it cannot eject the chopped leaves, it could have problems. Following these simple steps, the leaf chopper has chopped about 50 bags of leaves this year without a problem. It is very light and easy to move around. It also folds and uses little space when stored. Excellent product at a great price.

Got the product quicker then several other companies I checked, and at a lesser price. Made getting rid of the large piles of wet and dry leaves I had quick and easy. Tried the adjustable mulch size and wet/dry settings and they did as discribed.

Works very well and mulches everything. It is a little loud but it gets the job done well.

I had five bags of leaves from last year and it did a great job mulching them. Some of them were very wet but the Leaf Eater was able to handle them. The only negative was it would back up if too many leaves were put in and it filled the funnel. All in all, a good product and worth what I paid for it.

It does what I need it to do but it blows stuff all over the place

I have an old horse with poor teeth. I could buy chopped hay but that was getting pricey so I read about people using one of these to chop hay. I found that putting it on the coarsest chop was the best. It'll pay for itself soon.

It's cheap and easy to use. Only does leaves but I have a lot of those. Best time to mulch the leaves is when they are damp, not wet or dry. Fill hopper before turning on. Use the 'bear paws' to push and shake leaves through the narrow neck. The smaller you make the hole the longer it takes so I use the wide open setting. Make sure you remove big sticks. Small twigs are okay. For the price and for safety reasons I use this instead of the ones with the metal chipping blades. Those things scare me. I put it on top of a plastic garbage can when mulching, then when full I take the mulched leaves in the can and spread them around my plantings like any regular mulch. Saves a lot of money. I have had my leafeater for 2 seasons. No problems. It will shred leafs down to mulch type material if you want. A little more messy with wet leafs. Don't overpack leafs in top, I use the plastic rake to stir the top. (Don't stick anything into the feed point) Eye protection is a must. Leaf dust will make you stay upwind. Does what its supposed to do. Cuts down on yard waste bags or again will make great mulch / compost material. The nylon strings are very easy to replace when worn down. It does chew up small twings or flower stems.

did not come with bag or hopper to catch mulched leaves. had to download installation instructions that were supposed to be in the box. disappointed! [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

I was really disappointed with this product and would not recommend it. The original motor burned out, but the company, to their credit, sent a replacement. However, it burned out as well. I asked for a refund, since my total use was pretty minimal, but they denied that, saying that I could mail the bulky thing to them to look at. That option was hardly economical, so I threw the whole thing away. An expensive lesson, but in my experience, this is a poorly made product that is best avoided
