What more can you ask for in a product. This lets you adjust as needed and it has a 5 year warranty. So if it breaks get a new one from there customer service. I have used mine for several years and I know the water usage is less from it. One broke and they sent me out a new one no issue.
This product idea is a very good idea. I think it is not widely known. We put this in the main bathroom because we wanted to use it. However we constantly found ourselves telling people how to use it. Which can be a little awkward. I would recommend putting this in a personal bathroom. That being said it was relatively easy to install. Once installed it works very well. As a result I would recommend this product. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
Works as advertised, takes a little tweaking to balance the hi/lo flush amounts and the subsequent bowl refill to be efficient. Original started ghost flushing after a year, was sent an updated design unit. This unit started ghost flushing a while ago and appears to be caused by the same problem - a clear/white silicone gasket ring on the bottom of the flush control develops dimples causing it to not seal properly .... CS sent out a replacement and a spare, fixed.
I like the concept of saving water. The option of flushing for liquid waste using about half the water opposed to solid waste. Is a good idea. The instructions on how to install the flapper modification was difficult to understand initially. May have just been me, but the install was easy other than that. The cost is more than a conventional float system, but the environmental impact is with the cost for me. Not sure I'll save money because I don't think my water company reads my meter. Setting the system for the amount of water you need to flush was easy and effective. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I am now needing to replace this for the third time in as many years. This first one I had, the flush valve stopped working in the first year. No problem within warranty, replaced. Now 18 months into the second and the flappers I assume are leaking but there is no way to test this and I am tired of the valve kicking on every 45 minutes to replace the water. Master bath is 14 feet from my bed so every 45 minutes at night whoosh for a minute while it refills. I think all the savings I had over the years just went whoosh with this leak. My worry is I think I need to replace the flapper assembly completely on the tank because of this contraption. Not very happy. The 5 year warranty is a nice piece of mind, but seriously who wants to keep revisiting this! I had my old one for 15 years and replaced the flapper once and I only did this to be water conscious. I'll just reset my water level height instead, and save money on the assembly, time, and parts replacement. Fluidmaster Great idea! Poor execution!
I am truly not satisfied with this product. I converted all three of my toilets in January/2014 to the DUO FLUSH system. I purchased this product because I was intrigued by the dual flush system, the potential water savings and due to your advertised 5 year warranty. My problem with your system is that the cable continues to break, and therefore I need to repeatedly purchase and replace the DUO FLUSH Valve. At over $30 a replacement it has become very costly to run this system in my toilets. Unfortunately I thought I had bought a good quality product and threw out all my old parts, so I can't convert back. Here is a history of what I have purchased so far: January 6, 2014 purchased 3 (installed in 3 different toilets) May 31, 2015 purchased 1 September 3, 2016 purchased 1 December 19, 2016 purchased 2 September 23, 2017 purchased 2 (1 not being used as it is a spare) Add it all up and it has cost me over $270 for 9 units over a 3.75 year period. I am thinking of replacing my toilets, as the DUO FLUSH option has turned out to be way too expensive.
I have bought 2 of these units for the same toilet. Both of them the cable has broke at about one year. The first time didn't think much of it, just got a new one and keep the old one for parts later. Now the cable has broke on second one and can't find just cable. Had installed on most used toilet in house though would save on water. The valve and float assembly has worked fine on both units it just the cable that is the problem
Unfortunately all 3 of the toilets in my house are Toto one piece toilets which have a 3" opening for the flush valve. These units are built for the standard 2.5" opening and therefore would not fit these toilets. I was not going to give any stars since I can not honestly review this product but the system requires at least 1 star. This does not mean I thought it was a bad product, just that I was unable to use it. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
I like the DuoFlush concept... but the handle to be "properly" installed should be horizontal and this is not useful for toilets with thick overhang on their lid. Have found that flushing with handle installed vertical to allow the "up" duo-flush has resulted in "flap" (piston?) not closing on several occasions. Since unable to see what is happening at piston level had to just place hand inside until I could see that water level was rising. Technician at Fluidmaster was not helpful in addressing the issue other than suggesting a different model be used.
Good idea poor design. We installed it in our office to test before making a recommendation to clients. I'm sure glad I did. In three months we quadrupled our water usage. The flaw seems to be that their is no prevention from the valve sticking open. Two bills later and we used 22000 gallons one month and 19000 the next bill. This is from 8500 gallons.
