Fluke 287 True-RMS Electronics Logging Multimeter with TrendCapture

The Fluke 287 is very reliable and accurate, as described in the user manual. The warning beep that sounds when the probe connection position and the measurement function do not match is very helpful. The case is very well designed, allowing it to stand upright firmly on its back support. Overall, it is a high-quality product.

An excellent meter, with a wealth of features. For me, the key feature was the low level of current that can be measured - essential when testing battery powered devices. No disappointments in terms of the quality from Fluke - I'm quite sure this will be the last multimeter I buy for a long, long while!

I have use fluke DMM for years in college, high school, and for professional and personal use (hobbyist). I bought the Fluke 287 for two reasons: Robust functions and data logging. I am a Arduino hobbyist. I use the meter to read voltages for PWM, detect relay switching, measure current in micro-amp range and troubleshooting a project. I also use the DMM for learning. Currently, I am studying (self-study) circuit analysis operational amplifiers. The 287 make is easy to verify calculations and lab results. Also, Flukeview Forms allow for exporting of .csv file for charting in excel. I really like the Fluke 287.

The Fluke 287 has been in my tool case for a long time. I have the calibration checked twice a year and it's always dead on. I have compared other brands side by side with my Fluke 287 and every other one is off by as little as 2% and as much as 13% from what my Fluke shows. If you are serious about accuracy and details, the Fluke is the clear choice! The only way to go is Fluke.

I was looking for a meter with the resolution and range to get accurate readings from the low-power devices I typically work with day to day such as microcontrollers, sensors and other devices. This is the first meter I have used which was able to get accurate microamp current measurements. All the other features were just icing on the cake! The TrendCapture was something I didn't have before but now couldn't live without. And the battery level indicator is a nice touch. Too much more to talk about in such a small space. Have the Fluke 289... In short: One fantastic instrument - tool! It's like an electronic Swiss knife. Brilliant design, great feel and ever time I use it I smile. And that is daily. ;-# ! I bought my 287 back in 2008. It has every feature I need and then some. I love the logging capabilities, being in the refrigeration field I use the temp logging and graphing quite a bit. Several months ago the meter stopped working. I loved it so much I shipped it to fluke for repair expecting a high repair bill. I was happy to know the repair was free of charge due to the LIFETIME WARRANTY on the 287.

I've owned my Fluke 289 for 5 years now, it's been calibrated annually and comes back within 1% of factory every time. I use it for work, around the house, the car, even used it to determine if my freezer was beginning to fail but don't loan it out. I got it with the graphing software but the DMM graphs are good enough for me. The only other meter I use is a loop calibrator and would have loved to have that included in the 289.

bought one and it arrived with a weird blotchy texture on the yellow rubber area. I returned it, ordered another one from another dealer Tequipment and it arrived with the same blotchy problem on the yellow rubber boot. That unit also had a tear on the bottom rubber boot as well as shipping damage impact on one of the top corners. I bought one 3 years ago and it was perfect. My engineering department demands the best and I can't seem to find that with fluke anymore. Please help.

I've had this meter for less than a year. It has a ghosting issue. For example when it displays a "0" there are two ghost lines that appear on the left and right side of the "0" that go up and down the display. This happens for all digits and it causes the menu bar at the bottom to looked striped. It would be nice to add a photo, but that feature on this web site is another thing that doesn't work. I also if the IR-USB adapter and that thing falls off the meter if you sneeze too hard near the meter.
