The size is perfect, it is not small nor big. My sons dragon hardly used it but it's a good decoration.

used for Sulcata tortoise
have 3 baby Sulcata tortoises and it is a good hide spot for them to take turns getting under when they want away from the heat lamp.

Medium - suitable for small sized pets
As mentioned in other reviews of this product, I too was mildly surprised by the size. I currently have the small reptile cavern in my hermit crab habitat and I wanted something bigger so I purchased the medium sized one. It fits fine in this habitat. It is too small for my bearded dragon, whose habitat has the large one. The size contrast between small, medium, and large of this product is something to be aware of: look at the dimensions of each size to best gauge which one is best for your pet's habitat. The small and medium caverns work well with my hermit crabs. The large is better suited for my bearded dragon.

Good quality wood but too low for comfort
The inside is too low for the turtle to be comfortable. It is wide enough and the quality of the wood is good.
