FolkArt 5070E Acrylic Craft Paint Set, Matte Finish, Festival, Set of 12, 24 fl oz

I bought the paints for my young granddaughter. She loved them, and she showed me seven paintings she did using these paints. She made a painting of masks for me and titled it Staying Safe in the Pandemic. Painting allows children to express their feelings in a creative way.. These paints were reasonably priced and I will be ordering more for her.

For the price of this paint, I did not expect much, but I was pleasantly surprised. This covers wonderfully. The coverage is great, 9/12 of the colors are one brush stroke opaque (barring the yellow, pink, and light green) while the 3 remaining need only two and have great tinting strength. They are very matte and chalky (like gouache), but are far less stiff and great for beginners. They also have good vibrance, with at least four colors needing to be mixed before things get muddy. My only complaint is that I wished they'd replaced the grey with either another white or a mars black. You can mix grey easily with all the other colors and it's the color that immediately muddies everything. Overall 9.5/10.

These paint sets are such a great deal. I like to have them just on hand. I used them most recently to paint some planters to match my decor. You have so many options to mix, as well, with all the different paints in the set. Folk Art is a good brand, too.

I have used these for 2 projects that my nieces made for their mother to keep. We made custom plates to put out for Santa with the girls handprints and then I bought canvas and they each made her great artwork for their mother to cherish. The colors were vibrant on both services, the porcelain plate and the canvases.

the paint is thicker which i guess makes the paint heavier but the amount of paint is not much compared to apple barrel. even though I used the white bottle with my daughter and her friend for one painting session (8x10 canvas), more than half was used and we didn't use that much. individually.

The colors have a more neon tent to them than Apple barrel but I prefer the way Apple barrel paints are better, personal preference. This set cost twice as much so that is a bit disappointing. I like the colors and it is still a good paint so they will be used.

I didnt see the matte paints description because I loved the colors. Sadly, I can't use matte paints in the pour painting. too many cracking anytime I do even with semigloss pouring medium and the GAC800. not worth the extra work on fixing the canvases.

All paint was super hard and dry. I added water to help but it did not help.

Too thick to flow as paint should. Poor coverage. Several coats needed, and brush marks hard to conceal because of the thick consistency. Can't paint fine lines with paint that won't flow. I have craft paint from this brand I have been using for30 years, and needed new ones. What a disappointment.
