When I placed the order the order page indicated that I would receive this product by specified date. I ordered the product based on that information because I would be leaving to go out of town for a week the after that specified date and I needed the tripod for the trip. The following day I was notified that the delivery would be delayed. Since I knew that I would not be available to receive it, I immediately cancelled the order.
I also contacted Walmart via chat to let them know that the order must be cancelled becuase it would not be arriving on time and I would not be available to receive it.
Walmart chat rep. said they would notify the seller.
The seller sent me an email a few hours later letting me know that they could not do the cancellation on their end becuase the shipping is handled by Walmart. And they said they would inform Walmart of the cancellation.
Nine hours after I cancelled the order a shipping label was printed, and about twelve hours later the product shipped. About the same time I was informed by the seller that the order was cancelled, I was being refunded, but somehow the product shipped anyway and I would need to refuse the delivery.
As I mentioned, I would not be available to receive the product, so, therefore, it would not be possible for me to refuse the delivery. I tried contacting FedEx to tell them the order was cancelled, but they said that the seller would have to handle the return to sender to stop the shipment.
The Walmart order detail shows returned, but I keep getting updates saying that the delivery is delayed and extended yet another day.
I don't think that the root of the issue is the seller's fault. This is a Walmart logistics issue. However, the seller should have been proactive in ensuring that the item either does not ship, or notify the carrier to return to sender. It is still too early to tell what will happen as I have not received it yet, but the order still shows it on the way. I am also still waiting on my refund.
