I continue to use the blue formula for easy viewing of the larval development. Two generations are reared on a single formulation with no difference in sizes between generations.

My flies are thriving on the diet and even small larvae are visible. You have to be a bit careful not to stain things unintentionally with the blue dye in the mix, though.

The nature center I'm at raises fruit flies to feed our very young amphibians and this works perfect. Very easy to set up and keep the flies alive.

Great product. Easier than making your own. The Blue dye just makes it easier to see how the fruit flies are growing but the white version works just as well. Both are excellent products. Easy to use and very effective.

This food is super simple to make and incorporate your drug of choice. We have a fly kitchen at our university that makes fly food for all the labs, but rather than gather the material to make a few vials from scratch (not cost effective) or modify the pre-made food (messy and time consuming), we just diluted our drug into the water used to make the blue food and voila! Cheap drug delivery for a small pilot experiment. Thanks, Carolina!

I accidentally stumbled across this. This website keeps on amazing me with all the cool stuff they have and I havent even scratched the surface! Anyway, I was ordering something else from them, mind you, they were the ONLY ones who had the product I was looking for. That's when I saw the fruit fly media. Its fairly priced, I'm already paying for shipping, so when in Rome! When I received it, it was exactly like the pictures. Inside the bag there are 2 packets of active yeast and 2 little cups (which I'm still unclear what they are for) I use them to scoop out the media. The instructions are a little hazy, hard to understand in a way. With stuff like this, you want concrete, easy to read and easy to follow instructions. Just like any other fruit fly media, you pretty much have an idea of what the consistency should be. Plus depends where you live because that can play a factor in it aswell. I poured some in my deli cup, I threw a pinch of the provided yeast in, mixed it up, put my excelsior in it and let it do its thing! Its been great! What I love about it is, u dont need to use hot water. It makes life sooo much easier. And once u mix it up, u can pour in the fruit flies right away! You dont need it to cool down. I give this product 2 thumbs up. And I would definitely recommend it and I will definitely order again in the future!

Very efficient means of feeding my fruit flies. It's quick and simple to prepare. I like the blue dye because it shows wherever it's been so that I can clean up more thoroughly, plus, it's makes it easier to see the larva.
