Four Paws 17"H Expandable 5 Panel Dog Gate, Wood

We put new carpet in our den, the entrance is about 90" wide, so we needed to purchase either several other style gates or this one. What I like about this is: it was the widest gate I could find for a reasonable price; and, the slats are close enough that my cats cannot squeeze through them. We are satisfied with the construction of the gate and we received it in a reasonable amount of time. Note: this gate is not meant to defend against medium or large dogs, it would probably work for small dogs, unless they like to jump, and is working for our cats. My concerns are: 1.) Will my elderly cats try to jump over? (I am 5'2" and it barely reaches my knees.) 2.) Will they try to knock it over? (The zig-zag arrangement will keep it more stable; I could purchase hardware from a hardware store and fasten one end to the wall; or I could purchase/make a couple of "feet" to stabilize it.) It has been up for 2 weeks, and it's working quite well for us.

We use this by our front door so our dogs won't go outside when you open the door. It's great when you have groceries in your hands.

A post was broken as soon as I took it out of the box. I had gorilla glue on hand and easily glued it back. I read from previous reviews that this would probably happen. The gate works well with my dog because he is small, old, and won't push/jump on the gate. This gate was the cheapest price I could find and works for my situation. So if you have a dog that is small and it won't push on the gate then I recommend it. Just know it isn't the highest quality gate, but folds up easily and works for my small apartment.

Its totally raw uncoated wood! One bar was cracked in half! Not worth the money at all
