I had only used manual trimmers before purchasing this product. I read many reviews and ordered with confidence. Easy to set up and I am getting very consistent results. Very pleased.
This tool is amazing and makes brass prep much more enjoyable! I didn't have any issues setting up or trouble with brass chatter. ALL of the cutters are sharp enough for any brass job. If you are having issues with inconsistencies or brass chatter, please check your adjustments. Once tuned, this tool works flawlessly!!
I bought one of these trimmers many years ago now and I love it! It speeds prep speed up 100 fold. The only observation I have noticed is after a few years of use, the grease used to lube the gears dries out and sometimes causes the trimmer not to rotate unassisted. Being out of warranty by then, I cleaned out the old grease and replaced it with a high-end bike grease. I have never had another problem since! I use this trimmer all the time!!!
Had this for 3 years, really like it. Saves my hands and much time. Changing the length trim setup between case types takes a bit of time but I'm sure everyone does these in batches so it's no big deal.
Whether I'm loading 6.5 CM, .223, or 300 Blk, it's usually 100's at a time. I've tried other, more manual, devices, and was frustrated with how long the process took. Trimmers that chuck up in a drill, hand deburrers & chamferers, primer pocket reamers. A hundred once fired (many military crimped) .223 would take two hours to go through the 4-step process. Then I discovered this beastly beauty. Trim, boop. Deburr, boop. Chamfer, boop. Ream the crimp, boop. Into the tumbler they go. Now, in two hours, I can get 100's done with the same or better results. If you want to clean, but not ream your primer pockets...swap out the reamer for a brush. BOOP! The ONLY part I struggle with, is holding the case in the trimmer when I have the collet set for high volume. If you leave the collet loose enough to quickly and easily slide cases in and out, you have to grip them pretty tight to keep the cutter from spinning them. That way you don't have to tighten and loosen the collet for every piece. Speeds things up nicely. So, after 200-300 cases, my thumb feels like it's going to fall off. Grippy gloves are highly recommended. Another suggestion... As part of your depriming step, be sure to full length resize to bump your shoulder back .002 to .004 BEFORE trimming. Otherwise you'll trim the throat to a prescribed case length, but run out of headspace in the chamber.
Case prep is so much easier and faster. Once you get the hang of adjusting the trim depth it's a snap to setup. Hint I got from someone. Once you get the trim length set sacrifice a trimmed case as a template. Next time you need to trim setup using that case and you're done.
I decided to purchase one of these for myself after borrowing & using one of these from a buddy that had brought one. The Prep Center tool is well made and easy to use after you go through the process of setting up the trim length your case requires. I found a YouTube video that showed the process. After watching it the setup was fairly straight forward. So far have trimmed 900+ .204 Ruger cases. Glad I have this instead of trimming cases the old slow way. Well worth the investment!
Fast and easy to trim multiple calibers. Just watch manfacture you have to adhust cut for some case manufactures to not over under trim. I cut in batches abd it cab loosen up with alot of cutting so make sure you lock it down and retighten as needed. But i cut in batches of 100 now because of this tool.
After reading many reviews about wobbly tool heads and other negative things, I was leery about purchasing this. I ended up doing so anyways since I have about 35 gallons of 223 brass to process.... Brass prep will never be the same. I absolutely love this! I probably would not use this for PRS reloading but I tested cases cut with the frankford trim and prep center and cases that were hand trimmed prepared.... no notable difference even though there is slight tool head wobble. I will be using this for all my 223 and 22-250 from now on.
Why would you sell a product like the Platnum case trimmer when replacement parts are not available? I have looked all over including your sight but collets and case holder parts are no where to be found
