Franklin Sports Intermediate 6 Player Croquet Set

This croquet set is exactly what I wanted! Looks great! The mallets are long handled, the balls are a good size, the wickets look good and sturdy and the colors are good and bright! The only thing is the bag isn't big enough to fit the mallets when put together. I had a black wheeled bag in my closet that worked perfectly for this set. Haven't gotten to use it yet but can't wait to try it out with my friends and family. I hope it will hold up through many games of croquet!

I purchased this set through a company event and was very impressed with how sturdy the quality is. We played it for the whole afternoon on sat with no dents or scratches afterwards, worked just great. All handles screwed in straight and tight , the balls were heavy just like wooden balls. In addition, this set comes with a carrying case, directions which shows you how to play, score, etc, make a lot easier for beginners like us who don't even know the rules. We have never played croquet before but thought we should give it a try. Took this to the park with the kids and they loved it. Easy to carry case comes in handy when going to the park as who knows how far you will be parked from your spot. Worth noting you do have to take the mallets apart to use the case. The mallets and wickets are sturdy and a good size for various ages. Held up well for full day of play and feels like they will hold up for a while. Im not an expert in croquet but this set does work for what we used it for and am very happy with it overall.

Decent wooden croquet set with it's own carrying case. The carrying case and prompt shipping is what made the sale for me. My young kids have played with it twice this week. I would prefer that the bag was a little bit bigger so that the croquet clubs could be put in when they were put together. You actually have to take them apart (which isn't hard, really) to get them to all fit in the bag.

This Croquet set is definitely one of the higher quality, very durable solid wood material set out there. Not a pro set but for a kids game, it's more than enough. There are enough mallets and balls for six players. All pieces are well packed into a carry bag which makes it very convenient to take it out for a group picnic. We mostly use this set for kids fun event. The handle starts to chip after a few play but probably because the kids kept hitting it on the hard floor surface. This set may be adequate for occasional lawn use, but not for serious play. I selected it based on dimensions (long handles, large heavy mallet head) but it turns out it is low-quality in several key aspects. The threaded joint between handle and head is weak. I will glue the handles into the heads before the threads strip out; then the set will not fit into the flimsy vinyl sack, so I will have to contrive something else. The heavy head is excellent for driving a shot on a regulation-size pitch, but the balls became nicked and dented after one game. I discarded them and replaced them with the balls from my previous set. And I broke a mallet handle during our second game. I laughed at the idea of spending $1200 on a mahogany croquet set. Now I am laughing at myself for spending only $60. I am saving my allowance.

Within 10 minutes of play, the head of a mallet flew off the handle on a hit that would have moved the ball just 10 to 15 feet. Found that the metal socket (into which the handle screws) is attached to the wooden mallet with four small screws that penetrate only 1/4 inch into the wood. Packed it up and returned it. Would not recommend this Franklin Expert Croquet Set.

It was all nice and dandy when we got it to set up but after two rounds of playing the handle broke this is not as heavy duty as I thought I'm super disappointed! It's been less than a week since I received it and I'm really upset about the product itself. Total thumbs down!
