Inexpensive, delicious lunch box snack. One enough to satisfy without grandson pestering for more. Son's wife doesn't like me giving a lot of treats and he will eat a whole family size box of cookies if you let him. Decent compromise. She still winches but you know I'm grandma, it could be worse.
The National brands can't hold a candle to Franz pies. They aren't too sweet but just right. Cherries are plup and never pits. Crust is flakey and just robust enough to hold the filling but no more. The glaze on top is the best, keeping the crust sweet and moist. I usually buy the cherry and lemon ones, but all the others are just as awesome.
I love Pie. cherrys my favorite. for the price. it is great. you tell me where on earth besides Walmart you can get a individual wrapped and glazed cherry pie for under a buck. 😋. like eating a donut but so much better.
Much better than the hostess fruit pies, Man, then hostess pies have really fallen off. They're downright bad now. Probably blew all their money on signing Marvel Heroes for Fruit Pie ads. Silly hostess Oh yeah, the Franz pies are awesome
Overall...delicious. Franz products are always this way. No high costs, so good, that's why OFTEN these sell out. Same with their other items Franz sell out. *Real fruit fillings.
I love eating the cherry pies I rather do cherry over the rest.. They are the right size and the right consistency. Great for a good night snack. Just enough sugar frosting.
Maybe I'm old and glamorize the old days, but it seems like these used to have more cherries in them, and now it seems it's 90% cherry (whatever the viscous, fruit gravy is called). I remember a knockoff brand in the 1980s that advertised "100% real fruit", except it was discovered they were substituting dyed grapes for cherries... so they weren't LYING, but.. Regardless, the crust pocket is a flaky, sweet, beautiful pocket, and the tart cherry fruit gravy rocks. Just not as many cherries (or grapes) as back in the day.
The filling is delicious. The crust not so much; it always seems a bit stale. However, these are more flavorful and filling than poptarts. If you have a renegade sweet tooth , these will satisfy. I might be addicted (especially to the blackberry) 'cause I keep buying them.
It's far better than Hostess's cherry pie but it is still too dry and there is never enough filling. They always leave a big air pocket inside instead of full of filling. There is also, never enough cherries. But it's better than the alternative!
This product was a substitution for an online order. I didn't want to wait for the employee to remove the charges so I just accepted the substitution. They were out of Hostess pies and subbed with this Franz pie. It was horrible. I will not allow any substitutions again.
