This is m,y favorite bread for making chicken salad or ham and swiss sandwiches. The texture of the bread is soft, but without those gaping holes some breads are rife with. It also makes a good peanut butter and jelly sandwich, as far as taste goes. However, its softness makes spreading a dense substance a bit challenging. For the PB%26Js, I generally just let the bread sit out on the counter for a couple of hours before assembling my sandwich. Franz Sweet Dark bread also makes a lovely toast, and makes the salted butter a great companion.
Everyone usually learns about sweet dark brown bread from Cheesecake Factory. They have now mass marketed their own bread and rolls to grocery stores. It's expensive, usually dry, and goes bad fast. Franz makes the same bread but it's moist and dense, and will stay that way even past the best by date. It makes an excellent sandwich, and is awesome toasted with butter and jam!
Is there another perfect bread for a turkey-Swiss cheese sandwich melt with mayo, mustard, and dill? Or for peanut butter toast eaten with orange juice? Nope! I don't think so! (It's also incredible with Muenster cheese, a little garlic powder, a little onion powder, and a light sprinkle of herbs, and then slid under the broiler for a couple of minutes... I personally guarantee people will beg you for the recipe!)
This has become my favorite bread! Delicious! The perfect amount of sweetness, moistness and I love the molasses that makes the beautiful dark brown color. Great job!
This is legit on my weekly shopping list. I love this bread so much. It's like a lighter version of pumpernickel bread, and literally goes with both sweet and savory toppings (from Nutella on toast, to meat sandwiches). Franz is SUCH a good brand.
This bread is like a cross between whole grain and pumpernickel. It has that slightly sweet taste while still retaining softness. It makes a great grilled cheese. Don't overcook it though, as the seeds become a bit too hard from being over-toasted.
Very good bread. I would like it even more if it was just a tad sweeter and if the slices were just a tad bit thicker, but this works well for sandwiches as is. I love it for cinnamon toast.
The mouth feel is excellent. Not too soft and not too dense. Holds up well with condiments and don't fall apart.
This bread was recommended by a friend. It is the only I now buy unless it is unavailable. I would not hesitate to recommend to others.
Best bread ever!! Sweet from molasses. Whole grains. So much tastier than flavorless white breads. Highly recommend.
