From the first bite, this has become my new favorite apple to eat as a hand fruit. The apples I received are nice and large in size and no bruising or marks on them. They're so crispy and for my tastebuds, are sweeter than other apples I've eaten, and are really satisfying. They're great cold! I'll definitely keep buying these!
If you like sweet apples with a nice crisp these are absolutely the BEST hands down! Crispy smooth sweet flavor, but not overly or soft like a golden. About as crispy as a Fuji, and just a tad sweeter than a semi-sweet Honeycrisp. Ambrosia's are often found as a seasonal apple but seem to turn up randomly here, so I always stock up when I see them. Definitely my favorite sweet apple.
It's not the worst apple I've ever eaten but to name it "Ambrosia" was a real stretch. TEXTURE: It is hard and crisp very much like a "Delicious."The skin is very thick and tough and I couldn't chew it. I had to get a knife and peel this one. FLAVOR: It has plenty of juice and it is somewhat sweet but it is not particularly flavorful as apples go. Not much apple flavor just sort of sugary. This is one that I'm crossing off my list.
These apples are fine, although not my favorite. I had ordered seven pink lady apples. they apparently were out of stock. I was told in the email showing the substitution that I was receiving seven ambrosia apples, at a far far lower price. in fact it was a ridiculously low price of 13-cents for seven apples! I would gladly have paid the full price for each ambrosia apple whatever it might have been, but I really did need and want seven apples. I did not receive seven apples I only got five. now I have to go shopping to a different grocery to find two more apples. I'm not happy about that. but for the price these five apples I guess were worth 13-cents... although when bagged the bag was not tied and one of them escaped into the back of my car and it took quite an effort to retrieve it and I'm sure now it's bruised badly. so I guess it's all okay in the long run.
I don't know what the growers are doing but these Ambrosia apples are anything BUT ambrosia! They are virtually tasteless, barely sweet In fact they taste more like a raw potato than an apple. They LOOK beautiful but the TASTE is not at all like an apple. I used to grow apples and I would never have offered anything as tasteless as this for sale. two were substitute for Envy apples so I got four which I don't know what to do with. NOT going to serve them to guest with a cheese board.
We ordered and received two really bad and damaged apples. It is visually clear. The picker didnt bother one bit! This is a problem when they deliver it to our kitchens!
This isn't the first time this has happened. I ordered 12 Ambrosia Apples but I only got 2. I was only charged for 2--but I ordered 12. Otherwise, I like being able to pick up my order.
When you are picking apples one at a time for a customer, it would be nice if you could pick one that’s not rotting. Can put my finger right into the apple it’s so rotten. This is pathetic.
NOT Ambrosia (Gala) and NOT "bulk". I got one very small Gala apple. When I ordered bulk pears last time, I got a bag. Husband, a perfectionist, was NOT happy and I had to hear about it!
Received honey crisp instead this is the second time.
