These latest bath of pears are large, plump, fresh and deliciously sweet. A genuine delight to the palate. i ordered twice my normal amount this second time around so I'd have a supply. so nice to have these large fruits at the Christmas season.
nothing beats a fresh pear. i love how versatile these are. you can eat them as is. you can jar them and eat them at a later date. they make a great accompaniment to seasoned roasted potatoes and onions. they are delicious stewed over ice cream or cake.
But the precise pear characteristics you are expecting just are not in this line of pear. I have given up on these and only want the bosc pears now; they still have what I would call real pear characteristics.
I love pears, anjou, red pears, (but not bartlett) and bosc. I have for many years. But these are pears came unripe, as well as tasteless. I thought it was hard to do a bad pear but obviously I was wrong. chewy, dry, and tasteless is not a good experience.
Usually the Anjou pears are large and delicious. This time they were quite small. Haven't eaten any of these yet. I'm hoping they're as tasty as the larger ones we usually get with our pickup order. Recently I've noticed the Gala apples are smaller too. The season for apples and pears must be coming to an end...
Once we got this item home we realized they'd put the fruit in the order with canned items. I was still hopeful that the pear would be good even if the outside was blemished some but just one hour after slicing it up and putting it in the fridge it looked like this. I've never had that happen with any fruit before. There were a few bruises and blemishes but I cut around those and hoped to salvage some of it. I'm just incredibly disappointed. I wanted a fresh pear for a change but I'll just get fresh fruit at another store next time. This isn't the first fresh fruit item that's been rotten or damaged from Walmart.
Whoever Walmart chose to pick the food, they did a really bad job so whoever that was if it was a delivery driver actually I’m gonna be docking his tip because it probably was. I’ve had several things that were expired and bad that’s one of these. They were bruised and they were squishy. They were not ripe. They were old disgusting learn how to pick fruit or . Don’t work there.
Worst fruit I've ever received from your store. i was still unloading groceries when I saw them. They went into the trash. Why would you sell very expired fruit? I should receive a refund. And whatever shopper bagged that fruit should know it's not sellable. Ridiculous.
This pear had so many dings and brown dents it looked like it had a major fight with a pineaaple. Shopper was apparently blind!! Another quality item by Walmart that went straight to the trash! Get your fruit together Walmart! 2 weeks ago it was bananas!
After delivery, they were placed in a covered container for 8 days in order to ripen. Then, though not yet soft, I cored one and divided it into six wedges. The interior allowed the knife to pass through, though not with ease. For that reason, I decided to cook the wedges in a microwave oven for over a minute. When cool, I ate two wedges with a knife and fork. The texture was chewy and the taste somewhat sweet, but they were not enjoyable. I cut the remaining wedges into small pieces and added them to my morning oatmeal, which I cook for 5 minutes in the microwave. They did not add much flavor to my cereal.
