In the .5 oz clamshell, you get the sweet Genovese Basil that most people use for Italian and other everyday cooking. THIS clamshell IS NOT used for Italian sauces or caprese salads. This basil is THAI basil, and has that licorice smell and taste, which does not go well with an Italian sauce. Taste before adding to anything. You may enjoy it, or it may put you off.
There was no expiration date on this product. It was wilted, had black slime on edges and to the center of the leaves. They were spoiled and I didn't eat, nor taste them.
I have purchased this brand 3 times. Each time the leaves in poor condition, rotting in the middle, and flowering on leaves. The Alaska basil Wal-Mart use to carry was local and good quality. Can't say the same for this brand. Please bring back Alaska basil.
Nothing fresh about this basil. Ordered and delivered today, tried to use today. Leaves were very wet, wilted, and dark green, not light to medium green like fresh should be. Lots of stalk compared to leaves. Grateful we did not ruin our spaghetti sauce with this horrible basil.
i buy these herbs a lot. This was a store issue. Very old and moldy when delivered. It should have been discarded instead of delivered to me. Unfortunately this happens with products more than I want to say. But, these herbs are good and usually last quite a while. I will buy them again.
I was highly disappointed because I usually buy some of these herbs in the clamshells however, this time, the one I ordered was not available and it was substituted with the larger package in the clamshell and the items were in bad condition and I cannot use them. They're wilted browned not green. Very sad.
I ordered all of this on one order and whoever picked out all of my produce needs to be fired because every single thing I got was wilted or turning. I was so disappointed I lost out on money. I did not know that I could review it. The shopper literally had one job and he/she completely failed.
This is horrible, impossible to use. The leaves are rotten. Clearly, a product in this state shouldn't be for sale! And the person who placed my order should have realized it.
The basil was a complete loss as all leaves were black. Most likely this was frost-bitten, or diseased. In either case, it ALL went into the trash... I made several attempts to attach a photo, but of course, the site wouldn't allow for a photo to attach...???
I think the product might be ok, but when it arrived most of the leaves in the package where already turning black. So the product was picked off the shelf and delivered in an unusable manner. I was only able to pick maybe 15-20 small basil leaves that were usable from a container of 300 leaves.
