Impressive! The freshness, the quality, the size, are all impressive. The last purchase of calabacita that I purchased from Walmart was the size of my index finger they were a disappointment. Thank you for the fresh produce Walmart.
my favorite squash. softer and sweeter than the rest. i order with every order. sometimes they cant be found. don't know why. bad crop or weather or sold out. but i want them.i just saute them in olive or coconut oil with 6 other veggies. add your desired herbs. gooood.
chop up with some onions and ginger and/or herbs, some water or broth and a piece of frozen protein of your choice or anything that strikes your fancy and you can have a great quick meal in under 15 minutes by steam, microwave, pressure, or air fryer make it quick and easy add a boiled egg and some of your favorite dressing or pasta sauce and never be bored by your single meal again....
Some stores sell calabacita as zucchini. In fact, with this delivery order they had to substitute zucchini for the calabacitas I ordered. These used to be round, not elongated. Some still are. Did you know that only GMO zucchinis are safe to eat? Heirloom or organic zucchinis can have a dangerous amount of curcubitan, a bitter toxin. If you ever start eating it and it tastes bitter, stop and discard it. Some people have perished from it. GMO science is a way to breed out the undesirable toxin while making no other changes to the plant. GMO is a breeding method, not an ingredient.
This is the best vegetable on the menu. This is my go to squash. I really love it. Every time I order it, It is fresh; it lasts a long time in the fridge. It doesn't cost a lot. If it were up to me, I would eat them every day. I like them on the stove till they're almost burned with olive oil and season all. I especially love them baked in the oven. They're so delicious smothered with extra virgin olive oil and herbs. You should try them too. Make sure to buy extra because you will want more for the next day.
I've bought a lot of these. I had never heard of them before seeing them in my local Walmart. They are generally smaller, firmer and more mild than regular zucchini. I use them in homemade soups and stews and they're great fried up with Italian salad dressing.
While this is a seasonal product that can not be helped. What can be helped is handling. Keeping limp and streak free and scratch free zucchini can be difficult task; but my Walmart has their staff on point! Love that! Cause scratch zucchini isn't easy to clean, and scratch zucchini often means dirty finger nails have tainted the squash. I don't want that.
The squash itself was great. Fresh and firm, looks and tastes like zucchini. It was the price that makes me hesitate to buy again, over $1 for a barely 8 ounce squash. Sometimes, as a treat but not affordable over the long term with per item pricing vs by the pound.
Well, I have never had this squash before, but I won’t buy it again from Walmart! These things were so small it’s not even funny. They are about 4 1/2 inches. That did not include the stem so I mean that’s not even enough for one person honestly once it gets cooked down ! So I truly hope that that’s not really the size they are and if I would’ve known that, I would’ve ordered quite a few more so there you go OK ! So when I get these cooked up, see how they taste. I’ll let you all know if you’d like to hear that alrighty I appreciate all for reading this far down so I will let you know thanks.
This has bruises all over and is mushy. Associate should really look at products before they put into bag. Should never get produce that looks like this.
