I cut it into matchstick size, use this to add texture in salads and slaw. It has a mild flavor, a combination of cucumber and pear. It is loaded with fiber
I love using these squashes. I used them to replace potatoes in my stews. They are light to eat, and absorbs the flavor from the spices I use easily. The price is a good value.
We just tried these today, and they are delicious ! When I tasted a piece of chayote raw, it is kind of like zucchini. After cooking, it held its shape much better than zucchini does and has a really interesting flavor. They are supposed to sprout and you can plant the chayote and grow a whole vine, like you would grow cucumbers. We ate one and i am going to see if I can get the tower one to sprout and grow the vine.
Good quality, vegetable tasty fresh from the store affordable and fast delivery. Highly recommended.
It’s a cross between tasting like cucumber but more zucchini like. This squash will stay hard as a rock even though inside it’s ripe. A big warning.. once you start peeling them they are hard to work with because they are slippery and sticky. I suggest using a kitchen cloth to hold it to cut.
I will say it was pretty decent for an exotic squash. I tasted it and then put it in a smoothie and it came out very nice! I would love to buy more, but will do so sparingly because of the price.
I have been getting these squash for a few months, at first they were a nice size , the appearance was nice and the price was ok. The past month they are getting smaller, look banged up and the price is a lot higher. I understand during growing season they are better but at least adjust the price down and warn people that they are smaller due to out of season.
I can’t use the chayote. It’s trash. They should have just said there wasn’t any available. It’s mushy and dark brown. It’s almost the whole side of it. I want a refund.
I didn’t get the four chayotes I ordered, l got four tomatillos instead and was charged for the 4 chayotes. I guess the employee doesn’t know the difference between the two.
Gave me a chayote that’s going bad. I can’t start a return because it was not included on the list which is weird but then I got charged for it. I would like to have a refund please.
