☠️☠️☠️☠️☠️ Avast! On a moonless night, I placed an order with the mighty merchants of Walmart, expectin’ naught but a modest English cucumber. But what arrived on me doorstep... was destiny. Wrapped in glistenin’ plastic armor, it gleamed like Poseidon's own scepter. I held it aloft as thunder cracked across the sky, knowin’ deep in me barnacle-covered soul—this were no ordinary produce. Nay, this was The One. The Chosen Gourd. The Green Excalibur. I drew me cutlass and sliced into it—CRRRRRUNCH! The sound echoed through the hull like cannon fire. ‘Twas as if the ghost of Blackbeard himself whispered, “That be a mighty fine cucumber, mate.” So crisp, so cool, so full o’ fightin’ spirit, I considered givin’ it a name and a rank. Sir Vegginton the Brave now guards me fridge with honor, and judges me late-night rum binges in silence. Buy it? Nay, summon it. For this be no mere snack—it be a saga.
Let me be clear: I did not expect to be moved—emotionally stirred—by a cucumber. And yet, here I am, waxing poetic about a vegetable I once considered a mere salad filler. This was no ordinary cucumber. This was a Fresh Long English Cucumber, and it delivered a masterclass in produce excellence. First, the aesthetics: sleek, elegant, and surprisingly charismatic. Wrapped in that thin, glossy skin (no waxy residue, thank you very much), it looked like it had just sauntered in from a modeling gig at a farmer’s market. No bruises, no nicks—just pure cucumber confidence. Slicing into it was a moment of culinary ASMR. The knife glided through with a satisfying shuck, revealing pale green flesh with an ever-so-slight translucence. The seeds—neatly centered, modest, polite—offered none of the overzealous rebellion you get with lesser cukes. And the flavor? Imagine a summer breeze politely crashing a garden party. Crisp, clean, lightly sweet, with the faintest echo of melon. It didn’t try to be the star of the show; it was the cool best friend who makes every dish better without stealing the spotlight. From tzatziki to cucumber gin cocktails, this little green maestro hit every note. Texture? Impeccable. Not too soft, not too stiff. Just the right kind of crunch that makes your teeth say, “Thank you for this refreshing adventure.” To be clear, I’ve had cucumbers before. Many, in fact. But this one made me re-evaluate the trajectory of my snacking habits. It made me want to garden. It made me want to host a picnic. It made me believe, for a moment, that maybe—just maybe—the world isn’t such a bad place after all. In summary: ✅ Beautifully fresh ✅ Sublimely crisp ✅ Flavorful but humble ✅ A top-tier cucumber experience If this cucumber were a person, it’d have great hair, impeccable manners, and a library card. Highly recommend.
I’ve never been disappointed in buying my groceries from Walmart. The prices are fantastic $4.02 for 18 eggs! Lowest price around! It’s such a convenience to have someone else do your shopping at no charge. I’ve had to pay Instacart and pick up my groceries or other stores have an annual fee for their employees to do your shopping. I always leave a nice tip in an envelope for the individual that has done my shopping. You will not be disappointed. It’s fast and easy pick up quick stop doing your errands. The quality of the food products in produce are equivalent to any store in my area. Their store brand great value is exactly what it is. Thank you, Walmart for being in my vicinity and for saving me money!
Used this in a salad that I took to church luncheon. It came sealed in cellophane from the store and that protected it from nicks %26 bruises in the delivery process. Cucumber was firm on arrival. Peeled %26 sliced well. Was about a foot long, meaning plenty of cucumber for my salad. Good taste for spring season.
if memory serves me correctly this is the first time I've had an issue with these hot house cucumbers -normally they are fine and fresh. I did notice that the end the tips of the cucumber felt a little soft when I put it into the refrigerator but I was tired that day and I said I'll deal with it the next day. Yesterday I cut the cucumber end off and decided to section the cucumber for a salad after taking off the plastic and washing the cucumber. Today I saw this mold road on one of the sections and so here I am mentioning this in this review. cucumber is one of the best vegetables for summer and I was a little disappointed with throwing it out and we still have faith that future purchases will be OK it may have been the person who shopped that they picked items that were not so close to the best use date. It would be nice if we could trust every produce item we receive from Walmart was Fresh!
I choose English cucumbers because they are most of the time a lot firmer and fresher and tastes better, but this one was half the size of what they usually are and not as firm. this time it wasn't worth the full cost. mayne they are going out of season? but they are notmally much better. i might be returning this one. disappointed
I did not receive English cucumbers. I received regular cucumbers. No big deal, price wasnt that different. But it is hard to know the difference for new people shopping produce. Perhaps give extra training on the cucumbers and cabbage/lettuce. Thanks
Today the cucumber I received with my pick up order was slimy, soft, and it had visible black moldy spots on it. I have had so many issues with Walmart produce in general when it comes to items selected for pick up orders.
Either they have zero character and purposefully give people rotting food or they are too stupid to know what rotting food looks like . If they don’t like their job go get another one taking it out on customers is the lowest , I pay for the groceries and I lose money .I unwrapped a cucumber it was bad then I unwrapped the other one they were both rotes I would have never chose those cucumbers if I had shopped for myself , to get a refund I have to bring them in the store. They shopped and delivered them , I have to drive disgusting rotting vegetables for their inspection for 6 dollar credit : I’m going to shop at Food Lion they have shop and delivery. , i doubt their shoppers will give rotted cucumber to their customers . I am sure the employees are tired of the complaints , and the revenge produce. 🙄
I have my groceries delivered to my home, so I depend on the “shopper” to pick out fresh produce, but Half of the cucumber was mushy and rotten and I had to throw it away. I really hesitate ordering produce and items with an expiration date on them, as I have received out of date items and produce that is rotten
