Awesome LARGE roots! In the past, I've purchased 7 to 10 pounds every year to make sushi ginger, ginger purée and ginger teas. I was planning on cutting back this year due to health issues [don't have the energy to stand and process the ginger], but then Walmart made these large ginger roots available. I purchased 12 pounds - and may get more. The larger roots are so easy to clean and process. Although you do NOT have to scrape the thin skin off to use the ginger, I don't usually take off this much skin. It was just too easy...
Ginger is one of the best natural sources to help have a healthy body system. It taste great and can be used in all kinds of recipes. I absolutely love it. I don’t go a day without it… Except for when you’re out of it, which seems to be a lot lately. Very frustrating. You got to order more to keep it in stock!
I ordered 2 lbs of ginger root to be shopped for me and delivered. Two POUNDS? Really? Yes. I help feed our unhoused neighbors at UU Saint Petersburg every Friday evening. I'm on the soup crew... a job that entails a lot of chopping of fresh ingredients. Our soup Maestro loves to put pureed ginger root into the soups. It adds a "zing" that our guests love, even though they can't quite put a finger on the flavor that is so intriguing! I will buy the ginger root in large batches, peel it, throw it in a food processor to pretty much puree it, then freeze it into appropriate sized baggies for the soup batches that we serve. Sometimes you get BIG pieces of ginger root, sometimes smaller ones... it seems to be hit or miss. The bigger ones are certainly easer to peel, but that's not always what is available. The batch shopped for me was fresh, no mold or soft spots.
as in my previous produce review on tomatillos the ginger was in excellent condition fresh no wrinkles not rotten or dried out which really surprised me because most of the time I will not buy Walmart produce because it's poor quality the quality this time was excellent I have more items to review on produce so so far things have really improved we're actually getting fresh produce now hopefully it continues
Walmart has some of the best ginger root available in the city. I use it to make ginger beer and ginger sodas. Wal Marts ginger supplier has the freshest ginger with the best surface yeast available to make these drinks, and make them quality. The freshness of the ginger would also be perfect for cooking and candying.
It's hard to imagine why the Walmart algorithm would ask me to review a product that is fresh produce. Seems silly. I like ginger root and use it a lot for cooking and in hot tea. It's a fresh item. Why on Earth would they want my opinion. But they asked for it, so here goes. 5 Stars. Highly recommend.
I ordered organic ginger because it is supposed to be non gmo. Organic ginger is supposed to be smaller but that’s not all I got. Some of the ginger is moldy. Not cool. I got a bunch of broken off pieces I don’t understand why people would send me food they wouldn’t buy for themselves. I don’t know if I should continue to shop with Walmart
ordered online for home delivery and received several dried and also pithy pieces, and no whole pieces. A couple of them were even moldy. The pieces are so small they cannot be peeled to be used.
Once again I find another item from my order that is past expiration, the ginger that I received was not fresh and it has mold on it! This is why I will no longer get fruit delivered again, I’ll rather go pick up my own fresh produce!
The ginger arrived rotted dry, could not be cut or anything. It's still on my counter in the bag it arrived in. customers fresh produce as such I feel should not have been received rotten or produce that is no longer edible to be sent out as a delivery or pick up it should be going into compost.
