These potatoes have such a good taste and perfect for roasting and baking. I give the potatoes a quick rinse off before cooking them since they're already pretty clean to begin with! I like to cut the potatoes into quarters and then drizzle some olive oil and mix the potatoes up to where they'e all coated.(I use regular olive oil, since it tastes better and I use the GV brand) then I'll spread them out on a big baking tray or pizza pan thats covered with with either aluminum foil or parchment paper, then sprinkle some salt over them and or sometimes garlic powder or Tony's creole seasoning, and then bake at 400° degrees for about a 30 mins or until tender and getting crispy and then take out of the oven before the last ten minutes of cooking and sprinkle shredded colby jack cheese over. Sometimes, I'll spread some chopped bacon or real bacon bits over it too, and then put back in the oven for that last ten minutes or however long it takes for the cheese to get nicely melted all over. Serve with sour cream and chives or ketchup or even taco sauce!! Game changer!! So good!!
The potato is delicious. Good size, some are really big. You will never go hungry with Potatos. I fry, boil, bake potatoes. Good for Peel, Color, Salad, and Growing.
I absolutely love these potatoes! They have the " real fresh" potato taste! They have just a tad of sweetness that enriches the potato taste! I eat these boiled without skin and mashed OR simply baked in the oven! Either way you cook potatoes these have to be the tastiest potatoes Ive had in years! The price fits my budget too! If you are a potato lover too, you will NOT regret buying these! More real potato taste than other potatoes Ive ever purchased! 100% Fresh!
I love potatoes of all descriptions, which one is best for which application? Oh heck I couldn't tell you that. It's just such an easy side dish, six minutes in the microwave then slice it up and dump some good old butter salt/pepper/.... on top and away you go. Yes potatoes are loaded with starch and carbohydrates but your body needs a certain amount of that. In some parts of the world potatoes were a very large part of the diet in olden days because they were one of the few crops that would grow in the local soil conditions. Love my potatoes.... take it out of the bag, wash it, cut out any yucky spots and toss in to cook. Potatoes should not be stored in the fridge long term it affects the way it keeps if you don't eat them all right away.
I've always liked the Idaho potatoes . They are still good but there seems to be TOO MANY smaller potatoes. I guess that is how you're keeping the cost somewhat in check. Just wanted you to know that I know. Thank you and keep up the great work. I just wish we had all farms in the US to get our food locally.
Not sure what I can say about Russet Potatoes that everyone doesn't already know, but here it goes. I appreciate that my Wal-Mart sells groceries %26 has bagged Russert available - it's nice that they deliver groceries too as the store is 15 miles from my house %26 I don't have transportation right now. Russets are a versatile food hat you can boil, roast, fry, mash, etc. They are a staple in my house because of the versatility. They are easy to peel %26 slice before you cut them into whatever shape you need. Remember, smaller pieces will cook faster. You can even bake them whole without peeling. We utilize the whole potatoe for fries, hashbrowns, baked, mashed, tots, etc. A potato buying tip I learned from my parents, pick up the bag of potatoes %26 smell them to make sure there isn't a spoiled one inside the middle that you cannot see. Nothing worse than discovering a rotten spud after you get home from the store or a week or two later! Store them in a cool dark place %26 I transfer them to a paper bag or cardboard box (don't completely seal either) as they last longer. My parents %26 grandparents had root cellars with wooden potato bins where the potatoes stayed good until the next garden harvest. Super market potatoes will last longer if you store them properly too. Just don't store them next to or with onions, apples, etc. Store separately for best results.
Normally these potatoes are great but this bag has a lot of green spots on them. Somewhere along the line they had too much sun exposure which produces the toxin called solanine.
These are actually better than the other brand russet potatoes . The others have a lot of black spots usually had to cut part of potato. These are bruised so you can still get more for your money., I usually buy the yellow or red potatoes in the winter. Probably going to stick with those for potato salad
The “fresh” Idaho potatoes were not included in the pack I bought. Instead, we got 3 clearly rotten and nasty potatoes, very visible damage, and we had to get rid of the rest of the potatoes as they should also being damaged. Seriously, quality of the products when I order to be picked up has going down in the last months, every time something is missing, damaged, wrong product, etc.
i received these in a delivery. Pulled them out 4-5 days later and omg all kinds of yucky juice had leaked all over shelf in fridge!! Looked in bag and there were 4 that were totaly rotten!! (almost half the bag). This is partly the shopper not paying attention to what they just "grab" but it is also Walmart people who ARE NOT doing their job!! Come on!!!! Not the only thing i have received that was damaged or out of date!!! what is wrong here???
