I use these in place of green onions that go bad so fast!! no issue swapping out!! just chop tiny. FYI - rinse in a collender after chopping!! leeks grow through the dirt layer by lauer and dirt collects IN them. no big. yemmy and last for months in fridge stored right or in the freezer. all parts can be used and I do!!. imI also plant the ends to get one more crop out of them :))
we love potato and leek soup The leeks are pretty good sized and mostly clean from debris except a couple. However, I don’t know what it is, but it seems like the leaks just don’t have that onion leak flavor as strong as it used to be. We’re not sure if it’s our imagination or what but we still like to make it. I need it.
These Leeks are of good quality, and the taste is excellent topped only by the Wild version, called, Ramps in some areas. Since I'm far from the Wild Leeks, I'll stick with these domesticated Leeks, using them in a Soup recipe from Julia Child's Cook Book. Thanks much!! VCS
I'll put this in Bear Creek Creamy Potato Soup Mix. I tried potato leek soup once at a restaurant , a piano lounge restaurant, to be exact, when I was on vacation. If I can cook something nearly as good as that, I'll be really happy! And I also have some boxes of Herb Hill Garlic Herb Biscuit Mix that would benefit from the flavor of leeks that I'll chop and simmer in butter first. The whole house will smell fragrant when I'm done.
This could have been a better choice the look of this is not appealing at all. I feel as though stuff like this should not be sold to customers and they're spending good money for this stuff.
Shopper literally got green onions instead of Leeks. I don’t understand, to keep paying for a membership and dealing with incompetence is insane. I’m canceling my membership, nothing but issues, apologies and you’ll get a refund in 10 business even though it wasn’t your fault. I’m switching to Instacart, Walmart hardly ever has anything I stock anyways.
LEEKS pic right there w/my ck mark to have delivered. What did "SPARK" dude do?...delivered"BBQ green onions"...not even close, dude didn't even check the labels!! OMG Good %26 Right shoppers are worth it, I am happy w/those, being disabled %26 no driving I'm greatful for the service.
The leeks I picked up May 8 were awful. I expect dirt but I got so much more. Leaves had turned yellow and were disintegrated into mush. I had to strip so much to find some I wasn't afraid to eat. At $4.37 a bunch I processed them on May 9. The compost bin received the rest. I love curbside pickup since I am a senior but my ways may need to change.
I never received my leeks! I would give 0 stars if I could but won't let me. Walmart brought me regular green onions instead and horrible nasty rotting ones on top of that and they are not leeks at all. You would think the shopper would have a clue by the price. Leeks are $4.97 and green onions are under a dollar. Another Walmart shopper that doesn't pay attention or care about the quality. They just throw whatever in the bags. Another thing, they did not put the green onions in a produce bag, just threw them in with the other groceries. So unsanitary, I threw them away.
Very large, tough, woody, unusable, and inedible I threw them out after cutting into them, next to no layers as there typically are. Just a thick tough stem. Sad, as usually the leeks are good quality from Walmart. Ruined my meal plan 😞 What a waste of time and money !
