I see a lot of bad reviews for these peppers. I have been buying these for several years now and have not had any issues with them. They usually last me between 1-2 weeks in the fridge before they start to get wrinkly, if I haven't used them all by then. I love putting them in omelets, cup of noodles and cut-up with hummus. While I do have issues with some other produce I luckily have not with the peppers.
I'm not sure where the negative reviews come from, but these always arrive fresh (in TN). And for a 2 person household, they are a much better and cheaper alternative to buying 3 large peppers. They last at least 2 weeks for me, using 1 or 2 at a time as recipes call for them. They are also fantastic stuffed as appetizers, or grilled whole. Be sure to check, as Walmart also sells an 8oz bag for the same price. Get the 16 oz, you won't be disappointed!
Much sweeter than regular bell peppers; think grape tomatoes vs regular tomatoes or sugar snap peas vs snow peas. Right it out the fridge they have a refreshing and satisfying crunch. Good addition to any cheese snack, a great side to a sandwich, or just as a healthy, crunchy snack for a hike or even for watching tv. Beware: little seeds at the stem get everywhere!!
St George, UT Walmart always had fresh produce. Now, Sheridan,WY has horrible rotten produce. What a shame and totally unnecessary. It takes 13 hrs to get from one to the other so why is the Wyoming produce aged? Is it the leftovers from other stores?
I love these little sweet peppers! I wanted to share them with someone who has never eaten them before I served them stuffed with tuna. I had two bags and put one on a bag for her to get embarrassed. The bag looked half full and when she tilted it to the side there were deflated rotten peppers at the bottom. Tried to call the pick up order line to no avail, and guess the service desk was closed too. Teach your people to shop for freshness, look at expiration dates, and ensure they are delivering quality to the customer.
These are great when they're not smashed or moldy. I should remember never to get any kind of fruits or vegetables with pickup because they are almost always this way. Even the vegetables in the bags such as these mini sweet peppers. I've also ordered cranberries in the bag for pickup previously which looked like they were stepped on. SMH
Don't put fresh veggies in your cart for pick up. Their shoppers do not know how to pick veggies. I think they may take the bad ones on purpose, then if you live in the country you'd stuck with them. More than once I have taken them out of the bag and thrown them straight in the garbage.
For years now, I've been buying this kind of peppers from another local grocery store ($5.98 for 32 ozs) and never encountered any issues. Needed some items from WalMart (for better price) and thought to also get these mini/sweet peppers for the first time. It was a pick up order (did not hand-pick myself) and although the peppers looked ok, they were way too large in size, almost fully lost their 'sweetness', and thus defeats the purpose of buying/using them. It ruined our meal (combined with other foods). The time, labor, and expense were too great to take another chance on these peppers (not "mini", and not "sweet"). WalMart has not been the best source for produce (quality-wise) and with so many mishaps we are changing to other, much better grocery stores (a little more expensive, but same high quality). Also, we have noticed in the last 2-3 yrs Walmart raising Produce prices to the level of other local stores but the quality has been deteriorating. We think Walmart have reached a point of no return (or if Walmart tries to drastically change it will probably takes many years). And for all those reasons, we are out and done with WalMart.
The peppers were fresh and lasted two weeks in my fridge, but after frying them in olive oil, I had to throw them away because they were very bitter. Tasted awful. Fried peppers are a staple in my kitchen, but I've never had a pepper taste bitter before. Will not buy again.
Basically the title. I've bought these several times before with hit or miss quality. This time, the peppers were a little wrinkled, but they didn't seem bad (no mold or mushiness), so I figured they would be alright if we used them quickly. I gave 2 peppers to my daughter as a snack, as she loves mini peppers. Within 3 hours, she threw up everything she had ate that day. My toddler and I ate the same food as she did that day, except for the peppers. As soon as she'd finished throwing up, she said she felt much better. She has no other symptoms, so it was clearly the peppers that she ate. I definitely won't buy this again and will probably stop buying any produce at wal-mart for a while
