These potatoes are great for a snack or a meal. I just poke holes in it all around with a fork and place it on a paper towel in the microwave for about 5 or 6 minutes. Then, I put lots of "I Can't Believe It's Not Butter" on it and its yummy and filling. The skin is supposed to be very good for you also.
The size is great for dinner for one, just pop into the microwave for 4 minutes and they're ready to eat. Sweet enough they don't even need butter. Sweet potato crust no-flour quiche? Thin slice to make a sweet potato crust, just butter or oil a pie plate or sautee pan, line with thin slices, takes about 2-3 layers to cover the pan nicely, then brush on melted butter and cook for 20 minutes at 350 - potatoes should be slightly tender- Filling - I like 4 eggs plus 2 egg whites, 1 bag steamed spinach, a 1/2 cup of milk or favorite substitute, and 2-4 oz feta or Chevre goat cheese, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/2 sauteed onion (optional), a pinch of red pepper flakes, then cook for 35 minutes on 375 - serves 4, and reheats well. (It's also a great crust to fill with your favorite meatloaf!)
I always buy organic if possible. These organic sweet potatoes were ok but were very small. I wish they could monitor the fresh produce more closely. I have had to return several items that were not fresh, or were moldy. I will continue to shop at Walmart but hate to make returns!
Sadly, this product has to have bad reviews based on Walmart's inability to hire produce managers to do their job making sure the produce on the shelves is fresh. And, let's not leave out the Store Manager's willingness to do their job overseeing this problem. Last, what about the pickers that pick this rotten crap that stinks without looking at it? This was an online pick-up order. Oh, and it's not seldom. It often happens. WALMART STOP PAYING THESE PEOPLE TO NOT DO THEIR JOBS!
These were the worst potatoes I have ever seen. Two out of five were rotten, and from the smell, had been rotten for a while. Don't know how the employees could have missed seeing that. And I pay more to get organic fruits and vegetables. This was a waste of my money.
Don't normally buy organic but I have been for a while. At first they were bright orange, cooked up well and tasted delicious. The last two times the quality was poor. This time they were hard and dirty. Yellow yams mixed in the the orange ones. Very dry and no taste. Won't buy them again. Disappointing!
Purchased a bag of sweet potatoes on 7/20. Today 7/27 I went to cook some of them and three of them are rotten, 3 were too soft to cook . Only 1 was edible. Walmart has a great return policy which makes it convenient since this was a pick up order. It’s either hit or miss with Walmart organics. It’s mostly hit but when it is a miss Walmart it’s quick to take action.
Several of the sweet potatoes in the bag are rotten and mushy. The orange mesh makes it difficult for shoppers to notice. These were placed in a box and the box was wet from leaking produce. When I opened the bags, some of them mushed up to a very gross mess. I wish the store would post a note where the organic sweet potatoes are to suggest shoppers examine them carefully and feel to see if they are firm. Also please inform the suppliers. This has happened before. I went to the store for an exchange and could not fond a single bag without a mushy potato. It wasn’t immediately obvious because of the orange mesh bag.
Sweet potatoes look rotten an old and are very small. I'm very upset because I'm going to have to take them all the way back to the store. They are unusable. I did not know how to send you a picture of them. I am 82 years old and that is something I do not know how to do. We will see them when I return them to the store.
Actually, I never got to try these. The shopper delivered these with the bag tied up air-tight. When I finally opened the Walmart bag of sweet potatoes (there were a lot of other groceries to put away) the awful smell hit me immediately—they were rotten! If the shopper didn't know they were bad when she put them in the cart, she certainly knew when she bagged them up—thus the extra tight closing of the bag—none if the others were done that way. Maybe at checkout she just didnt feel like walking all the way back to get fresh ones, and just tied the bag tight to hide the smell. 99.9% of my shoppers do a great job, and are much appeciated—though some still never actually read my quite specific delivery instructions at all. The ones that have been here before, some call me " Mr. Gary" and know what to do and were and how to do it. I have no other complaints, except that every time I buy organic produce, well, let's just say I've learned not to do that anymore. Thank God for Walmart grocery delivery though—I am disabled and have no car even if I could drive it! So if life hands you lemons, if they are no good just throw them away—or in this case, sweet potatoes!
