My basil plant was BEAUTIFUL! It's a small size, but you have to re plant it to get the full potential. Based on the reviews, i was skeptical and it exceeded my expectations. recommend for certain! IDK what ppl are expecting for a $3 plant, but it's a great starter!
I ordered basil one time and it was substituted with this plant. I tore off all of the leaves, so it looked dead, but on a whim, i continued to water the plant. The leaves all grew back and i ended up planting the plant in my garden. It grew so large and vibrant and tasted amazing! Lasted the whole gardening season! I will continue to order this from now on and plant it in my garden every year. (I am not sure why there are such bad reviews. I thought maybe it was from people who ordered in the off season, but i ordered again today (11/25/2025) and it looks just as good as the last time i got it! If you're like me and always check reviews before you order, i promise I've had great experiences with this basil plant! I wish I had a picture from my garden!
In the past, they sold larger Basil, Parsley, Rosemary plants, larger plants in larger plant containers.. Now , We're paying the same price for a smaller version, thats not being cared for in the stores.. So if I see them, I'm there to rescue them and bring them to my garden.. I love the plants, just dont like the newer packaging, and PLEASE, Take care of the plants in the stores.. QUIT LETTING THEM DIE..
I have purchased these on multiple occasions, and they are always different. I have had them in a pick up order, and I have chosen them myself. I would highly recommend choosing them yourself. The last time these were included in a pick up order, they were a disaster. There was nothing left on this plant that I would call edible. The leaves were so dry. They were falling off. Maybe could’ve been used in a soup? On another occasion, I included them in a pick up order and the plant was beautiful. I guess the lesson learned is to go into the store and choose it for yourself. Otherwise it’s a crapshoot!
first time I ordered a plant that I picked up in the back of the store but It was dead and smashed but Walmart returned my money immediately and I didn't have to return the product so that was great service that's the only problem I've had in years so not too bad.
This item was a substitute for a package of basil. The plant I received was completely dead, had no leaves, and was moldy. When I refused it during pickup, the bagger told me I would have to call Walmart for a refund and was not helpful. It is kind of unbelievable that whoever chose to put this in the cart for someone to purchase, thought it was even remotely acceptable. Very disappointed.
This potted basil was part of a delivery or pickup order. It should've been tossed in the trash. There were few leaves on the stems and most of the seedlings were dead. It should've been repotted long ago as it was root bound. Most of it was rotted. I tried to divide the plant to nurse it back to health. So far, there's only one stem that is hanging on. I'm not sure if it will make it and I haven't had one leaf to use for cooking yet. Walmart employees shouldn't bag dead plants to send to customers!
I picked up my order today and when I got home, the basil plant that I ordered to use for dinner tonight had about two leaves on it that I could use. It was basically dead. I don’t understand why the person who pick the order even put that in and didn’t create a substitution. I am pleased with my orders, but this was very disappointing.
The Basil Plant was completely withered and dead. Not one leaf was usable. When I mentioned to Walmart employee at Pick up section in regards to dead plant, he just suggested that I keep the plant inside so it can come back to life. That all his outdoor plants also died. When I asked if he too bought them at Walmart, he stated no, he'd bought them from Lowe's home improvement store. Not sure how this comment was to aid in the dead plant I received. The employee didn't offer to exchange or decline the item to refund my money. This is not the first time I received a dead herb plant from Walmart. I'm just tired of the lack of resolve by the company and employees not caring about the standards and expectations of quality GOODS for the money rendered.
The plant was delivered as part of pur Walmart delivery order so we did not do the shopping. It looks like they picked the saddest looking plant of the bunch. Tried everything to save it but sadly couldn't even use one basil leaf for a recipe. Will never order this again.
