I almost didn't buy these collards because of the reviews. I took a chance and boy am. I glad I did. These are the most convenient chopped collard greens, and there is a TON of them in this bag. I did not experience a lot of stems in the bag. I can tell you you'll get a whole lot more stems if you buy fresh leaves. I like to throw them in a crockpot with a big old smoked ham hock. Nothing better for seasoning beans or collards.
Everything went well everything was pleasant. The driver was friendly. She followed instructions. She came around to the back cause a lot of times people don't come to the back. They ignore it and I have a hard time getting out my front door, but everything was nice. She was very friendly and I'm satisfied with the quality of everything.
I found myself loving these greens. It was more than what I expected in the packaging. Full to the brim with ALL dark green collards. I only had to wash and prep them for roasting which was super easy with the cut size that remind me of noodles, which is perfect. They cooked evenly and were tasty! I love buying these collard greens when loose fresh ones are not looking so good or not available. However this bagged variety is great to have anyways in my freezer.
I've purchased these collard greens several times and I'm never disappointed. season the same as you would fresh greens and they taste amazing. I love the convenience of, they're already clean and cut which saves on prep time. give these a try and I don't think you'll be disappointed.
These were a substitution for regular collard greens. I've never used pre-shredded collards before, but I was pleasantly surprised. There were a lot of stems, unfortunately. I did end up cooking them a bit longer than usual so that the stems would soften. All in all these are a great option if you are really wanting some collards, and in a hurry!
if course, being pre cut, their not as fresh as bunches of collard greens. they're a little tougher and they lose some moisture, but they didn't make a bag or if collards when their basically steamed with an 8 oz package of a ham steak, diced, in 2 cartons of low sodium vegetable stock for about 4 hours on 3 out of 10 on the stove top. a good replacement for the fresh kind
This bag of shredded greens was better than the last one they sent me, which had multiple yellow leaves. I requested a refund for that one. This replacement bag is better looking. But it lacks flavor, which is more about the product itself. Perhaps they couldn't be picked at their peak. One star off for flavor.
Collards were okay if you like STEMS more than the greens. The bag had so many stems it took forever to clean and separate. There were a lot of just pieces of stems and some were too thick to deal with. A little bit of stems is okay, this bag had way too many. Will not buy this or any pre-cut collards. I'll do the work with fresh leaves, since I had to pick through and separate stems from the pre-cut bag.
I feel like I paid for a bag of stems instead of collard greens. It's so humiliating having serve my family and friends plate with more stems than actual greens. I am not sure what happens to the rest of the product, but I'm going to make sure that Walmart and the company that package these stems and sell them collard greens,is held responsible for false expectations and false advertising. I bought a bunch of collard greens from The Caribbean Market and paid less for them by $2 dollars. I will be contacting The Attorney General office and getting a petition signed against both Companies. WALMART HAS GOTTEN SO PETTY AND RIDICULOUS OVER THE PAST FEW YEARS. THEIR STANDARDS HAVE DROPPED SO LOW BECAUSE THEY EMPLOY LESS BORN AND RAISED AMERICAN CITIZENS WHO UNDERSTANDS ENGLISH AND NOT CHEATING AND STEALING FROM THE CUSTOMERS. THESE GUYS STOLE $1300.00 FROM MY AND THEY NEVER REFUNDED ME MY MONEY. AND THEN THEY MAKE YOU PAY FOR THE WEIGHT OF MEATS AND PRODUCE. SO YES I AM GOING TO BRING THIS TO ATTENTION OF AS MANY PEOPLE AS I POSSIBLY CAN. AND THAT'S A FACT. D
These collard greens are set to expire on November 24 and I purchased them on November 22. They really look bad in the bag. These are the shredded collard greens. I usually buy these in person, but I decided to do a pick up. I don't think I'll try that again because I don't think anyone looked at the expiration dates.
