Best Sweet Onion with Mild Flavor

Lynn May 15, 2026

These are the perfect sweet onions. I have purchased twice now and they are mild tasting and do not make me cry when I peel them. They cook beautifully and maintain there flavor. I have used them in a fresh pickle brine and they are delicious raw, too! The size is perfect as they are easy to cut and one onion is the perfect amount for a recipe, so there is no onion to store. Even when diced and put in the fridge they did not smell our fridge up.

Great alternative to regular yellow onions

anonymous July 10, 2026

I always grab these instead of regular yellow onions because they just taste way better. Standard yellow onions can be super sharp and overpowering, but these are noticeably milder and have a nice, subtle sweetness to them. They are awesome if you want to slice them up raw for burgers or salads since they won't burn your mouth. Plus, if you cook them down, they caramelize beautifully because of the natural sugars. The 3 lb bag is a pretty good price for the quality you get. The only real downside is that sweet onions don't last quite as long in the pantry as regular ones because they have more moisture in them. You have to use them up a bit faster, but they taste good enough that it is usually pretty easy to do. Definitely recommend switching to these if you want a smoother flavor.

Not the same quality

Rebecca July 3, 2025

I purchase these all the time because i like sweet onions. The last few times that I have purchased them, there have been rotten ones in the bag. Remind your shoppers that im sure they wouldn't purchase rotted food for themselves to eat, so why pick out for your customers.

Bad Onions

anonymous October 19, 2025

One onion in the bag must have been rotting when I received the order. When I opened the bag just now, there is one onion in really bad shape, only a couple are any good, so, I’m going to use them. Maybe, you could check products before sending them out for delivery. I love that convenience.

Sloppy shopping bad onions.

Mechelle September 30, 2025

Out of 8 onions 4 were bad. Very disappointed because when I shop I make sure the produce isn’t rotten in the bags. Who ever picked the groceries for me didn’t take care that my items were of good quality. I need them for canning my sauce and this is what I have. I would like a new bag of good onions that aren’t rotten in the bags. Usually my groceries are good. Looks like someone was in a hurry and didn’t really care about treating the customers properly.

Why?

mrpickvw August 14, 2025

Once again, Walmart picks out some of the worst produce I have ever seen and gives it to the people that buy their groceries online. This one is a real crowd pleaser. I bought these 2 days ago.

Rotten

Cynthia September 21, 2025

Onions among other produce has been particularly bad lately. Opened up a brand new bag and the very first onion I took out and cut, was rotten in the middle.

I have found not only your establishment but other establishments that wouldn't I order online the people who get my order together are people who don't know about looking at vegetables they don't know how to pick out vegetables. They don't know what to look for for vegetables because they're young or they experienced there was one rotten onion in that bag thank God I got it out early. Otherwise I'd be calling you for a refund. Kroger's is no different. Same thing the woman that delivered my food didn't give me a receipt. got me the smallest garlic possible I ordered for an English cucumber. She gave me a regular cucumber. You guys need to vent these people better if you want to continue to do the shopping for the public.

Not Crying

Crawford May 12, 2026

I did not order yellow onions. They are too sweet for the meals I make. I mostly use white onions. When I was asked to substitute I makes “no”. I then requested three white onions. Yellow onions are specific to certain cooking. I just do not use them.
