The first delivery of Bok choy was a mistake. I had never even tasted it that I knew of. When I tried to return it, they refunded my money but told me to just keep it. I cooked it and found that I loved Bok choy! I order it regularly now. My entire family loves it!
Much bigger than I expected, these bok choy are about the size of a napa cabbage, with crispy white stalks and dark green leaves. The flavor is kind of like a mild kale or cabbage, I tend to cross cut the leaves into thin ribbons and slightly wider on the stems, splitting the wide ends in half to make them bite sized. The bigger outer ribs need a good scrub from accumulated dirt but they are usually in good shape and can be added to the dish, they have a texture similar to water chestnuts. I sauté the trimmed and cut up ribs with onion, carrot and celery, season as desired. When nearly done, add the leaves, two cups of water and 1 cup of a quicker cooking whole grain like quinoa or white rice, then simmer for 15-20 minutes until the grain is cooked. It makes an easy one dish meal or a side dish to go with something else.
i love bok choy. not only is it so healthy for you its delicious. chop the end off soak it drain it and you can either sautee in olive oil whole or cut up. i add mushrooms onions garlic and soy sauce. bok choy has 70 antioxidant properties packed with vitamins and minerals and it only takes 5 mins to cook on stove, leaves should be wilted and stalk should be crunchy. great stuff
Well… it’s bok choy. It tasted like bok choy, it cooked up like bok choy, and it did exactly what it was supposed to do. Fresh, crisp, and no complaints here. I used it in a quick stir fry and it turned out delicious. Sometimes you don’t need anything fancy, you just need it to be right, and this was. Price was good too, which makes it an easy pick. Simple, solid, and exactly as expected.
I got this in my delivery order. A good bit of it was slimey/gross. The price is fine is I didn't have to throw away a bunch. Walmart was good and did refund this item.
food had bite marks on it as if an animal got to it. leaves were dehydrated and had bit marks on them. I request a refund. I made a report the same day I received the food and it was a different driver not the same driver and it was delivered in two parts
Bok Choy was delivered all slimy with a brown liquid dripping down the white stalks. No clue what it is. Leaves were bent and some tinged brown. Had to throw out because it was obviously bad. Do they shop produce with their eyes closed? Waiting on refund.
I had to immediately throw the bok choy into the trash. The leaves were wilted, and the stems had large brown rust marks, and were very squishy. A couple of the stems were even slimy, but yet this is what I had to spend my money on. Do better next time. I would put a picture on, but I had to immediately throw in the trash.
this was an item for delivery and it was not put in produce bag. arrived damaged and couldn't get refund without returning to store. there should be standards for handling food items like produce.
This bok choy was soooo old that it is not suitable for human consumption and should have been discarded in the picking field. Stater Brothers exercises better quality control.
