These brown mushrooms are hearty and delicious! They can be stuffed with a bread and chopped clam filling mixed with garlic and onion powders and olive oil. I also add freshly ground black pepper and salt. Then bake at 400 degrees on a foil lined baking pan for 20 to 30 minutes. Or they can be quartered or sliced and sautéed in olive oil and add any powder spices you like and some nice white wine, white vermouth or if you like sweet, use a sweet red vermouth. Anyway you cook them they hold up and have a great meaty texture. Cheers!
I have bought these brown mushrooms several times and they are always consistently good. They are more firm than white mushrooms and slice well and hold together better. They are very versatile and can be used in any recipe that calls for mushrooms unless you specifically want a particular mushroom like portabella. I just have to rinse them off well because they have some dirt on them, but that is no problem.
They're so flavorful! You can just rub them off with a damp paper towel. I like to pull the stems off and cook them in butter, then add some rice and basil. Satisfying.
In the quiet understory, where the soft loam breathes, Brown mushrooms rise like whispered thoughts the forest forgot it was thinking. They bloom without boasting— small monks in velvet caps, hooded in shades of cinnamon, bark, and dusk. They do not chase the sun. They do not beg the wind. They simply are— rooted in shadow, fed by the stories fallen leaves surrender. When rain arrives, they listen. When dawn returns, they glisten. When the world rushes past, they remain steady, content to be the quiet miracle most people never notice. Yet lift one gently— feel its soft resilience, its cool, earthy calm— and you'll sense the truth: humility is its own kind of magic. Brown mushrooms do not seek applause. But in soups, in stews, in sizzling pans, they reveal their secret alchemy— turning simple meals into warm evenings, and warm evenings into memories. So here's to the mushroom: the quiet king of the forest floor, the unassuming sage of soil and shade, the small, brown reminder that beauty doesn't need to shout to be unforgettable.
From my order the zucchini and lettuce were old and starting to go off. I did receive a refund however it's unfortunate to have to re-order or if i needed the ingredients urgently to wait. I would suggest the packers try and pick the best they would've done as though shopping for themselves. My husband says that's why he prefers going into the store to guarantee getting what you pay for. Overall everything comes efficiently.
I gave it that rating because depending on your shopper and what the supply is hit the store sometimes and I know they train them because I work at Walmart years ago they trained them to pull the older stuff from the front I personally would never do that I would rather give somebody something that I'll be willing to buy myself and if I'm not going to buy it I wouldn't expect somebody else to take it and buy it and pay full price for it so there been a couple of times whenever I've had stuff delivered of this nature that the mushrooms just like the very next day is like they age like 5 days I don't get it so I had to even though I didn't plan I had to actually cook them right then because and even some of my wound up throwing away
Sometimes I get nice mushrooms and sometimes they are bad. It is a bummer when you're planning a meal and now you don't have all the ingredients. These went into the city compost bin. The produce department should throw out bad produce and/or the shopper should look more closely. I bought these yesterday through Walmart grocery pick up.
I truly expected that after all the negative experiences I've had, the reviews and comments I've left, and the specific requests I've made to delivery drivers, this issue would no longer happen. Unfortunately, it is still happening, and I am very upset and disappointed about it.
Sometimes I would get these and they would be fine. Sometimes they were half full %26 had only 5 mushrooms. These had a lot of moisture and were rotten. And forget freshness guaranteed. It's not, I'd advise not to get refrigerated produce from Walmart in the hot months. The spinach I received was also bad. Can't get a refund as I don't live near the store. They don't guarantee anything unless you get in a car %26 travel to the store to bring the fresh items back that were delivered! That's not good service. Here's the picture I took the other day. I give up.
I was real disappointed with the mushrooms i got...i've had such good luck in the past %26 been so pleased it was a real surprise. First the mushrooms were filthy, muddy %26 bruised. The expiration date was 4/18 and I got these on 4/17, used them on 4/19 or tried to. The brand was Monterey mushrooms whole. I don't blame Walmart (except that this is a supplier they do business with) or the driver.....I do think the order picker should have found one with a better pull date seeing as this date was 1 day after the delivery date....
