Rutabagas are definitely underrated, and this one is a great reminder of why they deserve more attention. It was fresh and firm, with good color and no soft spots. I use it the same way I would carrots or other root vegetables, and it fits right in. It roasts beautifully, holds its texture well, and adds a mild, slightly sweet flavor to meals. I also enjoy it raw. Sliced or grated, it is crisp, refreshing, and surprisingly delicious. It works just as well in soups and stews as it does as a simple side dish. For such a basic vegetable, it is versatile, affordable, and adds great variety to everyday cooking.
it's no one's fault, it's all on me, not knowing that I was ordering an small turnip instead a big one. it's I'll have to get someone come over to cleaned it up and fry it. I didn't saw the driver he just did what he or she was to do. everything else is ok. just my mistake no one else. thank you.
WOW! What a huge rutabaga. I was thrilled to pieces when I saw it since the other two stores in town don't even carry them anymore. (On a regular basis)
I've become accustomed to getting humongous vegetables, especially any root vegetable. I wish there was a way to get smaller ones when I am the only one eating, it's a waste. This is so big, this would have been the size when cooking for family of 6! I am one! Okay, so there is that but the WORST surprise when getting 'fresh' vegetables is to see they are far from fresh %26 even further from being the higher quality ones. If they weren't so damaged it might not be so bad but they aren't any cheaper just because they're huge enough to knock someone out! These are the lowest graded ones I am use to finding at the cheapest stores w/all lessor quality. But this is getting ridiculous. This rutabaga has a huge gash that is discolored and about 1/2" cracked down side causing it to begin to separate. I'll end up having to cut who knows how much? I have to in order to remove the gash, all dried up and discolored and deep enough to where I'm not sure how much more is under the damaged, opened portion. It is a sorry example of choosing (?) biggest coconut sized rutabaga on edge of eating itself to core. Not acceptable when I will have to cut off what is "money."
Ordered two, received three. Two were “normal” size. The third was the size of a curling stone. ARE YOU KIDDING ME!! Life is a blessing or a lesson. Lesson learned. Purchase produce in person or elsewhere.
I wanted turnips I ended up getting rutabagas to my disappointment. It was for my mother and I want to return them. What do I do? I can go to my mother's get the rutabaga and return them to the store. She was making them for one of her German friends.
This is one of my favorite things to eat . Well last time the shopper who picked it out for me did great ,this time No. The rutabaga was really small and one of the ends had been cut and waxed leaving this smaller l then average. By the time I cut all the out side and the bad end it will be the size of a russet potato. So disappointed , and for the price . I was hoping to return it, but as it is i'm one hour away. So undecided. I whis walmart would credit me.
Completly covered in disgusting green moldy/rotten spots. This is a waxed item. It stays fresh looking for many weeks if fresh. The fact that it was covered inmild despite the wax shows how horribly old it must have been. I threw it out immediately and soaped my hands. Most mold on food stuff (like fusarium) are carcinogenic. This was an online order. The store sends spoiled produce most often. (Shamelessly!!) I rarely order produce as a result. (Only occasionally and only a few specific items that are less prone to major problems).
The item is rutabagas. However, you have a picture of a turnip instead of a rutabaga. Consequently, your people are delivering turnips instead of rutabagas. Get your act together and use picture the right vegetable. This little mistake is annoying a lot of people.
Walmart should stop selling produce that they advertise fresh.Walmart sells old, moldy and rotten food. They deliver this stuff to customers without hesitation . Just gross Walmart this happens too much !!!!!
