I don’t get the poor reviews on these shallots hence my reason for making a review. I have been buying these for at least a year and they have been great everytime. Perfect flavor and little to no bad spots usually they are big shallots that have no bad spots at all which is rare to find on any vegetable. Seriously, if you let them sit around forever they are going to spoil, that doesn’t mean you leave a bad review.
These are quality and they go a long, long way, they are fresh and stay fresh. In comparison with onions use very little. I do substitute this in certain recipes for onions for just small amounts for me because the taste is so exquisite. Anything like this that's high tone is expected to be expensive so that's the only reason for the four stars. Well worth it!!!
I love these shallots. A little goes a long way, and a famous chef once stated that the one ingredient home cooks should use to help their food taste more like quality restaurant food is shallots! These keep well, and the flavor is subtle yet aromatic.
These were FABULOUS!!! They may appear small, but they are VERY dense and produce way more than expected when finely sliced. These are a KUNG POW of flavor when added to stir fry or other gourmet dishes. I highly recommend these shallots. Great packaging too. A must!!!
Granted, shallots are pricey. However, they remain fresh for a long time, are easy to peal and chop, and have a far superior flavor than any other onion.” I adore Vidalias, but as a household of one, I prefer the smaller size of fresh produce. Raw onions are not my favorite method of serving, but a very light sauté or even a brief microwave of chopped veggies in similar sizes with a little bit of olive oil and pepper, soy sauce, or basil vinegar provide crunchy additions to pasta salad, couscous, or any salad. Enjoy!
These Fresh Whole Shallots in the 3 oz package have been a recent addition to my kitchen, and they've truly impressed me. From the moment I opened the package, the aroma was enticing, promising a delightful addition to my dishes. What stood out was their freshness; each shallot was firm and easy to peel, saving me time during meal prep. Their sweet yet mild flavor elevated my cooking, whether I sautéed them for a sauce or used them raw for a burst of freshness. I found the quantity just right for a few recipes, and the packaging kept them fresh until I used them all. Overall, these shallots have become a go-to ingredient, adding that extra touch of flavor to my meals.
I placed a curbside pickup and among the order was this package of shallots. They were rotting. I only got this yesterday and when I opened up the package, I found two shallots in there. The bigger one was rotten. I should’ve taken a picture, but was so disgusted, I put the shallots down the garbage disposal.
I have given these a try THREE times lately and each time they have been old and moldy INCLUDING the ones I got today. They USED to be wonderful - I would get them, and they would last for WEEKS. Now I get them, and they are DOA.
3 day old shallots, which only had 3 in the package. 2 of which were complete mush and completely green with mold! come on Walmart! Your produce managers need to do quality control so these items are NOT sold! Disgusting!
Scroll over the super tiny pack plastic container is what you will receive not regular shallots! Very over-priced, the 3 tiny pieces you get barley equal 1 normal shallot, I thought it was garlic at first
