I liked these onions. They are crunchy and aren't as strong as other onions. They are perfect additions to most sandwiches. I wouldn't put them on a banana, pineapple, or other fruit-based sandwiches. I put them on most other sandwiches. They taste good on ham, roast beef, pastrami, bologna, chicken, turkey, and most other meat-based sandwiches. Personally, I like an onion sandwich. Bread, onion, and mayonnaise. That makes a fine sandwich. Try it. Onions are even good on hamburgers. I recommend these Sweet Onions to everyone. They are lip smacking good!
These onions have been consistent across every order which is a bonus for those of us counting on them for our recipes. These are delicious and sweet for a variety of salads raw but also cook up perfectly for caramelizing in various sauces. I keep these on hand all the time because they are an ultimate staple and at this amazing price you can't go wrong
We put the sweet onions on the grill to cook with the hot dogs while I put the pre packaged slaw together and put on the table. So a very nice and quick dinner And loved the sweet onions. No tears . Thank you Walmart for the fast delivery and great service .
Behold the sweet onion. Round. Glossy. Slightly papery on the outside. Hiding layers of pure pizza destiny within. Slice into it and BOOM — that crisp snap. That gentle sweetness. Not harsh. Not aggressive. This isn’t one of those onions that makes you question your life choices. This one? It’s mellow. Friendly. Cooperative. Now picture it: Thin slices scattered over a bubbling pizza. Cheese stretching dramatically. Pepperoni sizzling. And those sweet onion ribbons caramelizing in the oven heat… As they bake, they soften. They mellow even more. The natural sugars start to shine. They get just a little golden at the edges. A little jammy. A little magical. Suddenly your pizza doesn’t just taste good. It tastes balanced. Elevated. Sophisticated. Sweet onions bring: • Depth without overpowering • A subtle sweetness that plays perfectly with savory toppings • That classic pizzeria aroma that fills the house and makes everyone hover near the oven Throw them on: Burgers Flatbreads Breakfast scrambles Grilled sandwiches Or caramelize them low and slow until they basically melt into sweet, savory bliss. This onion is not dramatic. It’s dependable. It’s flavorful. It is the quiet MVP of your pizza vibes. Five stars. Would absolutely slice, scatter, and bake again. 🍕🧅✨
Sweet or vidalia onions from walmart are always fresh and taste great. Only rated 4 stars as a warning because there's been a couple of times I ordered them as a pick up order and I believe the shopper actually got a yellow onion instead based on shape and taste. If you're ordering for pick up, it's safer to just get the 3lb bag to guarantee it will be sweet onions, since that's already labeled and sealed up with the right type. They always last a very long time
These sweet onions are usually fresh and great for cooking. They have that mild, slightly sweet flavor that works well for sautéing, roasting, or adding to sandwiches. The only funny issue I run into is when I do grocery pickup. Sometimes the employee grabbing my order chooses the absolute biggest onion in the bunch. While I appreciate the enthusiasm, it can be a lot more onion than I planned for. Still giving it four stars because the quality and flavor are good, but occasionally I end up with an onion that could feed a small village.
This is the fourth time I've ordered SWEET ONIONS and received YELLOW ONIONS from the Walmart in Callaway FL. I hope this review gets to the Coach of the pickers for this store and someone gives a training session on the difference between the two. Yellow Onions are typically rounder with a medium brown, unbroken, thick skin. SWEET onions are normally larger, flatter, and the skin is very thin and often peeling. there is a huge difference in both the appearance and the flavor. The accompanying photo shows a sweet onion on the left and the yellow onion I received on the right. Please, please learn the difference.
When i order delivery and order sweet onions, i will get yellow onions. Please train shoppers and stockers that there is a difference. Even when in the store about half of the onions in the sweet onion bin will be yellow onions. Please fix. Sweet onions say "sweet onions" on the label, yellow onions will say "fresh onions" or "yellow onion" or just "onion". There must be a problem with the way shoppers scan items because the receipt shows sweet onion but what you receive is a yellow onion. The PLU (the code that is on the sticker) is 4166 for a sweet onion. Everytime i ordered sweet onions, i get yellow onions with a PLU of 4093. PLEASE FIX.
I can’t give my thoughts on the sweet onion it probably would have been good. I received a yellow onion not the sweet one I ordered and it’s down in the cabinet not used because I needed a sweet onion. If the plain yellow onion is what you need it probably would be good
ok thiswas the third time that I had ordered sweet onions and when they get here they're yellow onions either I don't know who pulled the order when your employees or one of the spark drivers they're not paying attention to what type of onion when it comes to Yellow they put in the basket I know because I used to work at a grocery store and I work for spark now and I know the difference the yellow onion is like bitter tasting and sweet onions are well they're sweet. need to figure out the yellow onion and the sweet onion because I'm still without yellow onions I mean sweet onions.
