The turnips were old but still sweet ....I may eat them all raw...I don't drive any more...was afraid some one else would not chose good produce....so far so good....my wish --is for some one to teach persons how to tend to /or learn how to give produce like lettuce and celery a drink of water....it is not rocket science .....good fresh produce is what defines a grocery store...a drink of water is what keep produce fresh
three turniproot bulbs came in a one pound bag. you can cook these as any other root vegetable, however I like in a light beef broth stew with carrots, onions, turnips and tri-tip beef seasoned well
This root vegetable is low in starch, and I use it as a potato substitute for a diabetic diet. I usually roast them with carrots, but they're good steamed, too, or with a roast in the crockpot.
Excellent quality! The picture shows six turnips in a bag, mine had four but they did weigh just over 1 lb. Quality-wise, these were superb. Ni yucky bruising or mushy parts. Turnips were firm with nice colorations of purple bands near the stem, and all the stems had fresh greens still attached (cut to about 1"). I love these as a breakfast skillet instead of high carb potatoes. Roasted in a pan with EVOO or organic peanut oil, and a touch of Himalayan salt. I cook them to almost tender, toss in zime onions slivers and diced garlic. Saute that for about 2 mins then add some organic marinara or pasta sauce. While the sauce is sizzling, crack some eggs and continue cooking until done to your choosing. Thank you my local Walmart for carrying such a nice array of always fresh plus organic produce.
These were very good, so good that I didn’t even end up cooking them. They brought back memories of sneaking out to the garden as a kid with a knife and a salt shaker, so I decided to try them raw. The flavor was fresh, crisp, and delicious, and before I knew it, they were gone and no longer part of dinner plans. That says a lot about the quality. Great fresh taste, fair price, and excellent quality. I would definitely recommend these and will be buying them again.
These are good turnips for steaming or using in soups or casseroles. They have a good mild flavor.
Would recommend, however the quality of the product that you get at delivery is not consistent. The product may arrive in pristene condition, or may have seen better days. It depends on the care of the shopper who selects your items, and how it is transported. It can be disheartening at times, if you can't shop for yourself.
I love turnips but the picture has 6 turnips in the bag. I thought it was strange but the picture is supposed to be accurate so I needed 6 and the picture showed 6 but the 1lb bag i was delivered had 3. Now I have to find time to make it to walmart the only store in a 30 mile radius that had turnips at all and its 25 minutes away. My life and commute goes in the opposite direction. Please make sure the pictures are accurate so our burned out brains know what we are getting so we can order properly.
One pound is not much. My fault for not thinking. 3 little turnips in a little bag. They must have radishes in the picture painted like turnips. Otherwise they taste like tutnips.
You only receive half of what they advertise I. The photo —- so 3 turnip roots is what I recieved vs 6 when it’s advertised a 1lb bag, the photo pictured at the time of my purchase was not a 1lb bag!
