The icing is nice, it's not overly so sugary that gives you a headache or upset your stomach at least it didn't me. The flavor overall of their carrot cake is good and I'm not a gourmet baker or anything. I'm just a regular guy, but I really like it.
the carrot cake is absolutely charming to look at. The decoration is great. I bought this cake for my friend's birthday, I loved it so much I bought it for a Mother's Day celebration. Very fresh. Excellent flavor. I love the size. I recommend it, it is a real treat for any occasion!
Had a hankering for some carrot cake last month with a good cream cheese frosting and decided to give this little guy a try. I am very glad I did as it is pretty great. A good frosting with a generous amount with a decent carrot cake. Not a lot to the cake other than a basic mix, but it holds up. I would as raisins and actual carrots to it if I was making it, but if I was a baker I wouldn't need to buy cakes: This little 1 pound cake gave me several servings and every one was great: Just bought another one for this month
Affordable and a good price. In my honest opinion, this is good as an emergency birthday cake. I am not diabetic but I do not like an overload of icing/sugar. However, if you don't like a sugar overload there is much too much icing and not enough bread. If there was more bread and whipped cream instead of icing, it would be much more tasty and healthy.
The cake was a little bit dry, but the frosting was fantastic! It's a really good cake. It tastes more like a home-made cake than a store-bought cake, which I prefer. (And, you could pass it off as your own, lol.) Icing is really sweet and perfectly mixed with the cream cheese. It blends perfectly with the rich, carroty flavor of the cake. You can get six small pieces out of it. One, sometimes two, pieces was sufficient for me, and I'm a pig.
TBH this was a nice tasting "spice" cake. In my opinion this was not a carrot cake, not even in the sense of a boxed "carrot cake", but it was a nice spice cake... you have to have carrot in a carrot cake, and there wasnt enough carrot to qualify this as that, Carrot was in the label, but it was a spice cake, period.
This cake used to be taller:: it had 2 full size cake layers. Now, you either get 2 short size layers or just 1 medium layer. It is a rip off. I am shocked Walmart did this to all the 5" cakes . The price has gone very high and the size of cake is much smaller now. These cakes used to be 3" tall plus add the height of the frosting. And, sometimes the frosting is too thin also. Now your lucky if the 5" diameter cake is barely 2" tall, including the frosting. It is delicious though. I rated it a 3 because the cake is too small for the price. In these hard economic times, people need a sweet treat to momentarily whisk their mind away from their painful reality. This is such a sweet treat but the price is a pain. Why can't it be priced at cost? We all need a break, relief.
Item was a substitute at over 3X the price. Ordered on May 27 and expired on May 28. it was not even a regular sized cake. I tried a slice before it expired and the cake part was dry and gritty. I ended up throwing out the rest of the cake. Not sure if this was related to expiration date of cake or poor quality. It defiantly was a waste of money.
If you like eating sawdust with pesticide perfume sprayed on it this is the cake for you! I cannot get the taste out of my mouth. The cake itself had nary a carrot nor nut and the icing, the BEST part had zero flavor at all. Seriously, buy a box and a jar of cream cheese icing and make a much bigger cake that's actually edible.
The cake was falling apart when I got home it was not as firm as it need to be to hold it in place once Ison was added they didn't have a taste of what I would think a carrot cake so I would not recommend it to anyone it was not it was not something I would take to the office
