Love the cake, bought it for my son's birthday, and everyone loved it so much, they thought I made it. Lol I had to let them know, it's from Walmart store. The taste from the cake is right on point, the price is very worth it. We just love chocolate cake.
So so good. I love buttercream frosting. This cake is usually moist (had a dry one once out of 4 I think). I love the layers %26 different chocolate textures. You can easily split this into 16ths and it be plenty for your sweet teeth. KEEP IN THE REFRIGERATOR! Is not shelf stable like other Wallies bakery cakes.
I love this cake! One of the best chocolate cakes I have eaten. The cake is moist, tastes great and the frosting is outstanding! It is now my go-to anytime I need a cake. I have purchased several times and the quality is consistent. The cakes is very rich, so small portions work well making the cake a good value. So - blow your diet - buy the cake - get a fork and enjoy your day!
Test good but too much sugar on it .
This cake was purchased for my son's birthday. He wanted something chocolate and this looked delicious. Given that he ate most of the cake, I'd say he liked it. I found the cake to be slightly dry, but the icing was amazing. The whole thing looked professionally decorated and lovely. Definitely recommend.
I don't know what the deal is with Walmart pickers but every time I order a cake instead of them carefully setting it flat in the bottom of the bag they always tip it on it's side and it looks like they drop from a height of at least 2 feet because the cakes are always smack dab glued to the side of the cover with half the top smashed flat from tipping off to the side. To top it off when I got this cake the cover was dented down into the cake in 2 different places. This isn't an accident the person who packed this cake in the bag had to have done it on purpose. I don't know if it's just my Walmart or if this is a common practice around the country but I have never gotten a cake that was placed in a bag properly. I do know that my Walmart has some terrible people working in their delivery area and obviously the manager doesn't care what anyone does or doesn't do. I've tried talking to the manager of the delivery department and the general manager of the store. They don't care. The description states that the cake is refrigerated so I wasn't surprised when I got it and it was cold. I expected that. Because it's refrigerated I also expected it to be fresh or more fresh than a cake sitting out at room temperature. I was wrong. The cake was dry, the top layer was dry but not too dry it as kind of an acceptable dry but the bottom layer was really dry like it had been sitting out in the open for days before being assembled. It's a dark brown cake so I expected a good chocolate flavor but again I was wrong. It sort of has a chocolate flavor but I have feel the color is created by artificial coloring and not by chocolate or coco. It doesn't have much flavor at all. It's very unevenly frosted some parts the frosting is almost 1/2" think and other parts it's so thin I can't imagine how they even spread it that thinly? The frosting has a chocolate flavor not too much and it's not too sweet. It's alright. I did not like the dehydrated crumbles sprinkled around the base of the cake. I think they do that to cover up the fact that they don't frost it all the way down to the bottom. I hate it because they fall out when you open the container and they get all over the place making a huge mess. I try to knock them off over the sink but of course they stick long enough for me to move the cake to counter so they can sprinkle their way across the floor and around the counter. I don't know if it was 5 or 10 years ago Walmart sold really great cakes, they were moist and properly frosted then they changed companies and now the cakes are terrible. I knew that before I ordered it and I shouldn't have done it but it was my birthday and I really wanted a cake.
Received the cake ordered, unfortunately it has a best used by date of 2/22/25 and today is 3/8/25. Only 2 weeks past
DRY! DRY! DRY! usually I'm not one to leave bad reviews but it had to be said which sucks because it takes a lot to disappoint me. I bought this for a special someone's birthday as a last minute option and I've tried cakes from Walmart they've been good so far until this one!!! This cake was definitely not for me 🤮 super dry and stale I do not recommend!
This cake looks pretty but it is bone dry, stale, and crumbly. The buttercream was okay, The cake tasted like it was weeks old and dried out but it was still 10 days away from its Best by date! Total waste of money. Only thing it's good for would be bear bait.
The cake I ordered was out of stock (after I placed an order of course) so this cake was sent as a substitution. The cake arrived in perfect condition and it looked very appealing. However, this cake was dry and flavorless. I ended up throwing out more than half the cake. I don't leave many negative reviews but this purchase demands one.
