I use this for my catering business soulcafe313 and its also my families favorite bread for sandwiches or to dip in sauce, we also eat it with different soups… use to be .98 it’s been slowly creeping up in price and getting smaller in size. We still love it
I’ve bought this French bread on a regular basis at the $1.00 price along with the sliced version. But now the price is up 47% to $1.47!! It’s crazy to go up that much! I will not be buying these breads as regularly as I have been due to this high price. The bread is fine, the price is not.
I began buying this loaf of bread just a month or two ago. The first time I paid a $1.00 which was not indicated as a special or sale price. The next time I paid $1.27 and now I see the price is 1.47. That's darn clost to 50% price increase within a couple of months.
I've been purchasing 2-4 of these a month for at least the past year. Never had a concern about quality or price...until now. In the three weeks since I last paid $1 for this, the price was raised to $1.49. I get it. Prices change. But then I do a pick-up and the "best by" date is tomorrow. It was made 3 days ago. I don't consider that "fresh." I consider that "someone made more than they should have but people stopped buying them."
I purchased this bread on line on October 11, (guaranteed fresh baked daily), as you can see the best used date is October 12th...I expected packaged on October 11 (that is fresh)... This is not the only time this has happened to my on line orders...I expected the freshest products to be pulled for my orders. I will not be ordering on line with this Walmart again.
Picked up on Sunday oct 12 with an expiry date of oct 14. Who would be able to eat a full loaf of bread in two days. Come Thursday and that bread was fully moldy. Waste of money.
I must say I bought that French bread to have for a planned meal in a couple of days didn’t even make a couple days. It was already molded. I’m very surprised when you say this bread is supposed to be fresh and it won’t make two days in my house without molding so if you’re asking me to review it, I would say it sucked. I wouldn’t buy it again. Was unable to take pictures due to wife, throwing it away didn’t know that it could be returned. Anyway you asked for a review in the future I will take pictures.
We order frequently to be delivered and we always have gotten old bread not the bread that I get when I go to the store I guess Walmart wants to charge us the same price for not fresh bread you should send us the same quality bread that I get at the store I am paying the same price!
The bread is great though we must eat it quickly or it mildews. But increasing the price by half of what it did cost is a ridiculous jump and a great discouragement to buy it anymore. We finally had bread we could afford. Ugh!! And it’s not because of shipment fees; they make it in-house!
What was concerning was that the loaf of bread had already expired that day and yet Walmart chose to sell it. Not only selling it, but selling it at full price not giving the consumer an option to purchase it as is or get a fresh loaf instead. This seems to happen quite frequently, not just in the bakery department, but in produce and even in the meat section, they don't bother to look at the expiration date. The staff is not properly trained. After this, I'm not going to be buying groceries any longer at Walmart. I've gone through this number of times with Walmart and now I'm done.
