If you're like me, you hate prep work, but just a little extra care will make a big difference with this chicken. I recently bought 15lbs (3 bags-I like to buy in bulk). However, I like to rinse the meat off immediately, and pre-season it by covering it with a good amount of salt. I toss it in a large bowl, 5lbs at a time, twice. Each time adding salt. Then I place each leg in w great value double zip lock bag. After I've done this to all the chicken, I place each leg in one big freezer bag. Some say the meat has a weird smell. I've only found this to be true if I don't freeze it within a day or two at most. Once I've got all the legs salted (this enhances its flavor, tenderizes the meat, and keeps it juicy after cooking), I let it sit in the refrigerator for an hour or two so the salt I added can penetrate the meat. Then I just freeze all 15lbs. Now I've got tender, juicy chicken for the month. Enjoy!
Great quality for the price, and there wasn’t much excess fat or skin to trim. They cooked up juicy and tender, perfect for baking, frying, or grilling. I’ll definitely buy them again—excellent value for a family-size pack!
Ever since I was a young kid (some 75 years ago) I love to eat the chicken drumsticks. When I had the choice of what I wanted on my plate. Lucky for me, I always received what I requested. LOL Buying the 5-pound pack of chicken legs seems to be the correct choice when ordering food to be delivered, I am getting ready to place another order and as you might guess the 5-pound chicken keg pack will be on my list toe re-order.
I hate chicken legs. I bought these for my dogs. They loved them. The only problem I had with them was I froze them when I first got them delivered and did not separate them. That was MY mistake, but I thought they were loose enough in the bag. They were not. I ended up with a 5-pound block of ice. I had to defrost and cook the whole bag. It made my dogs happy, but I won't make that mistake again.
I have bought this brand countless times for my dog's food, and on many occasions there has been incidences where several of the bones would be bare, the flesh had been ripped of the bones. I have also purchased this brand and have found the drumsticks loaded with parasites. I would use caution when ordering this brand of drumsticks or Tyson brand which I quit buying period because every package of drumsticks had parasites. Tyson should be shut down until they start treating their animals humanely and treat them for parasites.
It’s comes at a good price and well packages but once you let it thaw, it has a weird thick fluid that surrounds the meat and accumulates at the bottom of the bag. It doesn’t appear to be packaged properly or washed. And there is a weird smell to the meat.
I purchase this product to cook for my cats. I wouldn’t eat it or cook it for my (human) family though. The chicken legs are usually broken, it has legs with no meat, I got a chicken foot last time (I literally almost passed out), and it usually smells horrible when you open bag.
Ordered pickup, everything else was frozen, this was dethawed and warm. Since they loaded my car for me I had zero clue until I was already home. Disappointed I had to throw away 5 lbs of chicken that didn’t even make it to my freezer due to the return policy having to be non perishable item.
Don't like what I'm seeing All those feathers , Chicken legs are too big , I grew up with chickens in our yard. We never had big chicken legs that size , This leads me to think you are feeding them the wrong stuff . I will never buy again !! Picture of chicken on website is deceiving
I purchase this bag of chicken legs about once per month and usually I have NO PROBLEM. Today was NOT the case!!! I don't know if it's the fault of the shopper/driver or the store but all I can say is totally UNACCEPTABLE!!!. I believe in giving honor where it's due and calling a spade a spade. I've NEVER received a bag full of bloody chicken water before. When I asked the driver what was leaking, he so oh so politely said it's just the chicken! As though it were NORMAL. And he simply walked away as I had already given him my delivery code. I recalled my tip so quick, my head spun. Nope, not today!!! I'm handicapped and wheelchair bound with a fractured collar bone. It took me 2 hours to clean up that mess with one arm. SMH!!! Do better employees.
