not sure why they're called "hard" rolls

Anonymous October 1, 2025

They were out of the usual buns I get so got this substituted, they are big enough to use for sandwich buns and the top of the bread has a "crust." I cut them in half and put them in my wide slot toaster for a few minutes before using. Quite acceptable as sandwich buns and the price is pretty good for a dozen. Would buy these again.

Good texture and taste....great with fried ham and egg on bun. Too many in one package for one person. End up tossing about three-quarter of package. Will try this time to freeze leftovers and see how they taste. Also I could dry them out in a brown paper bag and then grind up into a fine crumb texture - makes great breading for meatloaf, coating for pork chops and chicken and many more recipes that call for bread crumbs.

I love the hard rolls and I always have them in the freezer. I take them from the freezer and put them in the oven at 350 f for 10 minutes (no preheat required) and they are perfect. Crispy on the outside and cloud soft on the inside. Lately though the hard rolls have been either too dark, too light too flat and not guaranteed fresh! I hope the problem will be resolved soon and I can purchase the hard rolls again like they used to be.

A good substitution for what I am used to

Michelle July 1, 2025

Being from Philadelphia, I am spoiled. For they make the best Italian breads and rolls. I've tried local bakery brands available in the market and they aren't any better than these and charge more. Amoroso rolls are the best out there but, these are almost close. Not gummy, or heavy. Almost crusty enough. Don't fall apart.

Short Shelf Life

The hard rolls offer a pleasing taste and texture, making them an enjoyable choice for those seeking a quality bread product. It is important to note that these hard rolls do not remain fresh for an extended period. In my experience, they began to develop mold after just three days, which resulted in the need to discard half of the bag.

Not real hard rolls but good as hamburger buns.

NickT June 8, 2025

If you expecting a NY style hard roll, these are not that. They are more of an American bread texture and taste with a mild crust. They actually make a great upscale hamburger bun but fall short if you are expecting real hard roll taste and texture.

It seems that I am always getting bread that is 2 or 3 days old. That's very aggravating and I don't understand why they don't look for the most fresh product for the customers. The sandwich meat is always sliced too thick. Currently thinking of switching to Kroger because this has been a constant problem. I almost always have some sort of return because the shoppers are not paying attention to quality and dates on items.

New Baker?

Thomas May 12, 2026

I was very disappointed in these. She did not appear to have risen properly. They were very tough. I've ordered these in the past and they were much larger well texture, almost rainy, and very unhappy with him. I will not order them again now because of this order actually come into the store and see that there properly written and cooked. i've included a few pictures. The ones with the egg “grade A Large” are for size reference.

Old bread delivered

sharon November 5, 2025

Sorry I used the home delivery service. Ordered todays bread 11/2/2025 specifically and the pickers gave me 3 day old bread! Understand if they were out and gave me day old bread but to give the customer 3 day old bread is unacceptable.
