I'm glad Walmart is offering these freshly made mashed potatoes. They offer two sizes - 5 ounces and 16 ounces. Both sizes offer tasty mashed potatoes but the packaging for the 16 ounces is not very good. I get my groceries delivered and the two packages of the 16-ounce had potatoes leaking out over other items. Plus one package was dented so it really leaked. Perhaps Walmart will find a better packaging option but, for right now, I will only buy the 5-ounce package.
These taste like real potatoes. They even have a lump or two in the potatoes, which I like. The gravy is tasty, not too salty and no lumps 😊. And in my learned taste buds, they are at least ten times better than KFC! I had to be on a soft foods diet for an extended period of time, so tasted both these and KFC's several times.
The potatoes were delicious. We had a bit to much so returned to the fridge, The next afternoon I reheated them with a bit mor milk and butter and placed them in the air fryer at 325 degrees I think it was 4 minutes. I heated it for a couple of minutes, just checked on it for warmth and that's it. I will buy again. Ohh, half and half or sour cream is even better. Next time, there's so many ways to try those potatoes
The availability at my Walmart is spotty for this. After 5 tries, I finally got it. The family size was great and has a good taste and I like the gravy. I did a Walmart pick up. The family size was packed good. However the two smaller ones I got, were placed in a Walmart bag and not secured in anyway in the bag. At the Walmart pickup both had opened up and spilled inside the Walmart bag before the pick up. I wanted them replaced. Was told they were out and they weren't making anymore that day. Quite disappointing.
I don't know why walmart included gravy the first time I bought these, the second time they did not include gravy the potatos also tasted a little better the first time some of them spilled partially into the grocery bag because the lid was not secure. I told walmart and they did nothing to secure the lid on my second order
Honestly, these were just okay. The texture leaned pretty dry, even after stirring, and they didn't have that creamy, comforting mashed potato vibe you want from something labeled “hot and ready.” Also, calling this “family size” feels a little generous. It fed about three kids in our house, so definitely not enough if you're trying to cover a meal for a bigger family. Flavor wasn't bad, just nothing special. Works in a pinch, but I probably wouldn't grab these again unless I had no other options.
My mother made the very best mashed potatoes in the world! So I know I'm spoiled in that regard. I have some pretty high standards when it comes to mashed potatoes and I was expecting more from these. They are not bad but they could definitely be better. They have gravy on them which I found to be too salty. I had to scrape off the gravy and make my own. But with anything easy you get what they are selling.
I actually ordered this by accident. I was trying to get a premade chicken that they sell and I end up with the mashed potatoes I would've made my own except for who they were. I ate them. They're pretty good, (Girlfriend said…Sub-par gravy.)but I'd rather have ordered it on purpose.
They dont have it at lunch time. It's always out of stock after 1pm. I've worked deli they should 100% be ready for a lot of orders at lunch time and never be out of stock between the hours of 11 and 2 and dinner time. If you get lucky and its in stock you should 100% get it.
The mashed potatoes tasted like spoiled rotten cheese. This was supposed to be an easy meal ordered for my daughter's recovery after surgery; however, she refused to eat it because of the taste/smell. When I tried them, I agreed and informed Walmart Customer Service. I don't know if this was a delivery/shopper/preparer issue or all of the applicable.
