Cali'Strami Sub Recipe Below

Bexar October 7, 2025

This bread was really good. so good, I wondered if it would fit a California pastrami dip sandwich. it suits very well with the bread texture chew and pull and taste. I use Prima Bella pastrami, great value beef broth, or au jus sauce. French's mustard, great value sliced black olives (optional), Texas Best hamburger dill chip slices. I cut the Italian loaf lengthwise and half and then each half is cut into a top and the bottom the top of being thicker than the bottom. after I heat the pastrami in the au jus sauce, I dip the top portion of the bread into the pot of au jus. and then serve the dripping pastrami onto the bottom loaf. Then make several passes with the mustard, pickle the top loaf, as well as the sliced black olives. if you really need cheese, monster, havarti, or provolone would do well. is bread also makes a very good beef dip sandwich. I'll share that recipe later.

BEST BREAD

Robin June 5, 2025

We are very choosy about our bread, and this surpasses any packaged bread we've tried. I get the uncut loaf so I can have the thickness I want. It's always super fresh and has a great texture. And the price is a quarter or less of any other bread. What's not to like?

The BEST Bread

Christina June 14, 2025

Do yourself a favor and buy this immediately. It is the best dollar you will ever spend! The bread is fresh and delicious. We use it as a replacement for regular loaf bread. Makes wonderful avocado toast, french toast, grilled cheese and sandwiches. Slice, freeze and take out as you need it. Try this once and it will become part of your weekly grocery list!

Cost Increase

marvis February 21, 2026

while I appreciate the product, it's not worth the $1.60ish it costs now. The reason I even started buying the French and Italian loaf from Walmart was because it was affordable! Even though I can appreciate the fact that it has no preservatives, a reson that I have to buy one every week because it will go moldy, I actually count that as a plus. When it was $1 that was reasonable because it made it an acceptable purchase. When it went up to $1.43, I still bought still an acceptable value. This last price increase, unfortunate and unnecessary for the product. I will no longer be buying this product unless the price goes back to where it should be, $1.50 at the most.

If it's almost expired, send it to online orders.

Gman October 19, 2025

I ordered online for pickup. The bread is fine, my complaint is that I bought it today the 20th. It was baked on the 18th and has a use by date of tomorrow, the 21st. I feel certain that order pickers are instructed to choose the items that have the earliest expiration dates. That is bad customer service. I've had this happen with bread, salad mixes, milk, and other perishables. I would NEVER choose those expiring items if I were shopping in person unless it was discounted. The same goes for dented cans which I've complained about before. Up your game, Walmart.

No quality improvement, just a price hike!

Christine February 1, 2026

It is truly shameful that something so basic (and inexpensive to produce) should increase in price by 10%. Yes, it’s better than when Walmart LEAPT from $0.97 to $1.47, but this is ridiculous. The cleanliness standards for preparing have definitely gotten lax (AGAIN) as loaves begin to grow mold within 2 days…

Bread not fresh

Cyndee June 24, 2025

Every time I order the Italian Bread I get a loaf that was baked 2 days ago and expires the next day. I need it for Friday, but by then it will be . I have a hard time getting to the store, that is why I pay a yearly fee for delivery. Why should my food quality be any different than if I was shopping for myself?

Please stop raising the prices

heather January 26, 2026

The product was fine its the fact that you raised the price 62 cents in one week.If i go to walmart to buy things for cheap price you raise the price i might as will get it some where else and while there just do shopping at different store. That way I dont have to run around.

I really like fresh baked bread. When I was able to go to the store in person, I always went to the just-baked section and bought some. Since I have had to order for delivery, I've never yet received same day or next day baked bread. I've tried putting in my order in the morning, in the afternoon, and in the evening before, but nothing seems to get me fresh bread. It is always at least 2 or 3 days after baking, sometimes even after the use-by date. While it would have tasted great if fresh, the bread is either stale or beginning to show mold. I guess I'm ready to stop ordering it. I've hung in there with the hope of it being fresh the next time, but it doesn't look like that will ever happen. Disappointed.
