This bread is legit. You can tell pretty quickly that it's made with real ingredients because it molds faster than ultra-processed bread — and honestly, I consider that a good sign. It tastes fresh and doesn't have that overly shelf-stable texture some breads do. We started freezing it since we don't use the whole loaf right away, and it defrosts beautifully. No weird texture changes, no dryness — just tastes like fresh bread again once thawed. The flavor is also exactly what you want from marble rye. It has enough character to stand up to fillings without being overpowering, which makes it perfect for sandwiches, especially Reubens. What I liked: • Fresh taste and texture • Real ingredients (not overly processed) • Freezes and defrosts very well • Great flavor balance • Perfect for Reubens or hearty sandwiches Things to know: • Because it's fresher, it doesn't last as long at room temperature — freezing helps Overall, this has become my go-to rye bread. Quality is noticeably better than many store brands, and it works perfectly for what we use it for. Would buy again? Absolutely.
Brings back the flavor of those special sandwiches Mom would make during summer break from school. So good i wouldnt even remove the lettuce or tomato! Now, it's I that is trying to sneak in an extra tomato or lettuce leaf for a little taste tester. I could never find this bread on the West Coast, glad to see it available here.
It has been a long time since I had a decent loaf of marble rye. This loaf has been the best that I've had in years and I truly mean that it's the right size for a toaster it holds together beautifully. It's thickness is marvelous. What else can I say? I hope I can always get them in the future.
or texture of the bread was excellent and the Crumb was perfect. I found the flavor to be spot on. the marbling was very nicely done. the crest was nice in my opinion it could have been just a bit chewier but other than that it was very good. I definitely would buy it again. oh and I found it very interesting that a rye bread was sliced that thick it was very good I enjoyed that a lot. I don't think I would change a thing. it was a fine product good job Walmart
was stiff and harder than should be. This is the a product that I have only found in the bakery not the bread isle. In my opinion, changing the quality of the bag may make a real difference. I had to double bag the bread. that helped some but not enough because the problems already existed prior to. This causes the other problems noted above including flavor, texture and freshness.
I really wanted a marble rye bread and make Reuben type sandwiches. I was a bit disappointed, as the loaf wasn't as fresh as I expected. I didn't look at the date so it is my fault. After 2 meals, I had to toast the rest to be able to taste the rye as it just wasn't as fresh. It's not a bad bread, but I should have gone and bought a sandwich on rye bread to get my RYE "want/need". Honestly it was pretty good toasted with split pea soup. Next time I'll double check the freshness and be happier with it.
Anything that comes from the bakery and is delivered, is a real risk. They can say “freshness guaranteed”, but what they tend to mean by that is fresh if you eat it that day, or one or two day old bakery that they can get away with giving in a delivery because if the customer doesn't want to use it, they can just get a refund. I had high hopes on this bread, but was once again disappointed. I suppose if I was having salad, I could have used it as croutons.
Delivered it on the last day of freshness. It was stale and nasty. Walmart needs to train the delivery people or whoever picks up the product from the shelves to read the expiration dates and pack it on top of other groceries, not under heavy stuff, where it gets smashed!
This loaf was a misnomer.. usually the bakery has this down pat, but missed the mark leaving it in the oven that extra minute . the crust was tough, hard. had to return it as I couldn't imagine what it would be like in two or three days. gonna get another one later on.
The bread was STALE! Hard as a rock... I ended up throwing it away. When ever I order bread or rolls, I mostly get day old stuff! Wish I could specify when I order, if it's day old or older, don't put it in my order. Bread should be fresh for the price charged. Day old bread should be reduced in price!!!! This bread was so stale, we couldn't eat it.
