First of all let me state I ordered sourdough bread, but they delivered Hawaiian bread . So it wasn't what I wanted at all. Bit since I had it I gave it a try I don't like Hawaiian bread or buns having tried brand names I didn't like it. But this bakery kind from Walmart was actually very good. It takes great and has a grey texture. It's great for ham ,or bologna, also peanut butter. So I think I'll try it again.
The bread is awesome……however 4 out of 5 times after ordering, I learn that it is out of stock…….for days in a row…….therefore, I've ordered it many times throughout the day, it doesn't matter, it's always out of stock…….don't offer it if you won't have it.
This bread is far better than most of the other more expensive sourdough beads in terms of flavor, soft texture and chewy crust. It tastes fresh baked, and keeps well without getting stale or moldy. It's great toasted with butter, or with butter and cinnamon sugar. Makes a terrific sandwich with bacon, tomatoes, leaf lettuce, muenster cheese, mayo and a good quality (Boar's Head) sliced deli meat of your choice. Also makes a great toasted cheese or tuna melt with Swiss cheese. I think you get the point: it's a great bread!
My Grandmother's favorite at the breakfast table, she always had a wonderful assortment of breads and you could choose which one you wanted and how you wanted it toasted. Served at breakfast with a large assortment of fresh vegetables and some proteins, it brings back some truly great memories.
Most of the time I thoroughly enjoy this sourdough bread. It's far easier than making it and I believe sourdough bread is overall easier on one's digestive system. The last delivery I received two loaves and they were edible but of poor quality. The loaves were about half their usual height so more dense than usual. It was more trouble than worth to attempt return of them and they were edible. I just won't order two at one time again. My mistake.
this is a pretty decent brand of sourdough bread. I ate a lot of sourdough. I wish there was a little bit more options of flavors like the rest of kinds and stuff, but there's not at Walmart. anyhow, there's a whole bunch at the other stores competitors that I like shopping at Walmart
Everything quite good except for the loaf shape. The slices are too long to fit into a normal US toaster. I have to cut each slice in half to make them fit. Been like this for a long time, so I try never to order bread shaped this way. Unfortunately, bread is not shown with slice sizing so every once in a while, I get one like this as a substitute for the one I ordered.
I used to buy this bread all the time and got it for the first time in a while and it was thick qnd really dried out. maybe i just got an off loaf not sure but it doesnt even have like the right kinda sourdough flavor. tastes more like a really dry thick cut french bread.
I received this loaf of bread with a blue band aid baked into the loaf. It was disgusting. I brought it into customer service who laughed and offered me nothing more than a refund for this loaf. This is unacceptable. Nobody should be handling dough without gloves.
.I didn't receive this item so can't rate it. I often received substitutions that were not acceptable. For example, in the past, I ordered lox (4 oz), bagels and cream cheese. I received a raw, unsmoked/uncured salmon filet. That didn't work at all. Other times I received sugar soda as a sub for zero sugar soda. Quantities of subs have also been inappropriate, such as receiving 3 tubs of gorgonzola crumbles as a sub for a 1/4 pound wedge of whole gorg. So I stopped accepting subs at all since the shoppers can't determine my goals, and I don't expect them to read my mind. Butif the reviewer thinks I am receiving subs, what was in my order? Yikes. This may be why I often get things I didn't request. Thank you for asking and it's great when I notice shoppers trained on these things! :)
