This is incredibly good Sourdough bread in a solid loaf! No reason for slices just tear off a piece and enjoy! :) This bread is great with everything from Avocados to Hot Dogs! Christmas is coming so put a ribbon with a bow around a loaf %26 give it to a neighbor for a Stocking Stuffer for Christmas or New Year's Eve to welcome the New Year! One of these loaves will fit in a wine bag perfectly! I am a weekly repeat buyer of this loaf of bread straight from Heaven! I do recommend this Sourdough bread loaf %26 the price is so affordable! Hope my honest review helps you!
The loaf seems to be smaller than a standard size Sourdough but even for the size the price is still an excellent value. I like to cut the bread and two the size of hard rolls, it makes delicious sandwiches. The texture is crunchy, but not so hard that it cuts the roof of your mouth. it makes a great tasting salami sandwich with just mustard and maybe a little cheese.
YES !!!!! SOOO DELICIOUS !!!! Was craving bread and butter Glad I chose this. It is so good. I ate half a loaf at lunchtime and the other half for dinner. I have to go get another one. You can use it to dip in sauce, sprinkle cinnamon or use it for hot dogs. Cut slices and make Texas toast. I just like it with bread, butter. The description is accurate. It is soft and fresh. I gave a piece to the DOG. The dog inhaled it and said thank you. Then patiently waited for a second piece. Craving satisfied. I highly recommend.
can't rate this item high enough, actually afraid to comment on how good it is. look for the loafs with the blisters, there's always a couple bakers who really know what they're doing. the discount overstock loafs are great at discount too with much shorter shelf life but try a fresh one.
We like sourdough Bread and have tried nearly every reasonably priced loaf we could find. It's probably the significant above we regard it with due to it being made fresh and managing to get it ready when the bakery finishes it. Contributes to the whole project such when they know in advance how many we'll be wanting via our online orders. They'd do that even better if they had "whole" as part of the bread itself as well. As in, "Whole Wheat Sourdough" sadly not yet available from their bakery...yet...
This is not true sourdough..... it's white French bread style with a little tang... very little..... the texture is nothing like sourdough though it was good on its own and made a good quick garlic toast for dunking in my soup ... and the price is cheap.
Like most of the so-called "Freshness Guaranteed", it is more often than not, most assuredly not fresh. In fact, lately, all their "Freshness Guaranteed" breads are growing mold by the second or third day after delivery. And that is not all. There is almost always huge holes in the bread. Very difficult to make a sandwich. One loaf, was completely tunneled. That one, I bought in Harvard, IL. I will never shop there again. I will try to leave a photo, but Walmart has never allowed me to leave a photo thus far. So we will see. This is my advise to Walmart's makers of the so-called "Freshness Guaranteed" breads. Knead thoroughly to develop gluten. Punch down after the first rise. Take care not to add too much yeast. All the bread to Rise completely. Check the oven is at the correct temperature. Also, these breads are very very dry and crumbly. When slicing one of your loaves, with a bread knife, it is unbelievable how many crumbs there are. Very messy. The sour dough bread is crumbly, but not half as crumbly as the Italian bread. I started buying it pre-sliced. Still holey, so I guess they either don't check it, or just don't care. Another thing. When I only just started buying this bread a few months ago. At first, they were $1 per loaf. Within a month, they raised the price to $1.46. Now it is $1.76. I won't buy it anymore, because of the poor quality. I would rather make my own bread, minus the holes and tunneling. I would advise Walmart to improve the quality before raising the price any further. Cheers.
What a joke for $1.75! This loaf is just a little bigger than a foot-long Subway sandwich loaf, so not worth the price for that reason alone -- this is not to be confused with a baguette. Also, there is hardly any sourdough taste or texture to this bread!!!
I have no idea how this bread has such good reviews... It doesn't even taste like sourdough! It has the *slightest* hint of sourish flavor....its very soft...the outer crust is not crusty at all. It doesn't even look like the product images except very supericially...its the same shape with the same cuts in the top, but the images show a nice bubbly crispy crust and the actual bread has nothing even remotely resembling that....the crust is soft . Putting the loaf in the oven for a bit gets the outer crust crisp...but it still does not remotely resemble a decent sourdough loaf. Very disappointed!
This product is not even close to sourdough bread. The ingredients in this "sourdough" are a crime to the bread industry. I know Walmart isn't known for leading the way in healthy grocery changes, but since this is from THEIR bakery, they have the autonomy to make REAL sourdough which should be no more than 2-3 ingredients. This is VERY BASIC, PROCESSED BREAD. **This is NOT sourdough** Let's do better Walmart and at the very least, be honest regarding what a product is (or is not).
