My 9 month old seems to like these beginner trucks. The friction movement is simple to use but won't really work on carpet.

Great little trucks
My son loves these. I purchased them for him at 12 months, and he loves when I make them go far. He is just now figuring out how to make them go himself at 13 months. They are best for indoors as they don't propel well over uneven ground, but we have played with them in our driveway. Actually, I sort of enjoy playing with them too!
