Haven't used this yet, but I love that you can only place it so far internally. That's a huge plus because it's scary taking a rectal temp with a wriggly baby and having to make sure the thermometer doesn't go further that it's supposed to. Got this for my third baby. Wish I had this for my first two!
This was a product that another person needed. She looked into it and decided this was the baby thermometer for her newborn. I bought it for her.
Love this thermometer! As a first-time parent I felt terrified hearing that rectal temperatures are the most accurate for newborns. The design of this makes taking my baby's temperature so easy, it's quick and the shape makes me more confident that I won't hurt her accidentally by stopping the thermometer at the right position.
The product is good quality and very reasonably priced.
Fast and accurate. We had been using another name brand rectal thermometer and it took FOREVER. Holding a probe in a sick baby's bum needs to be as fast as possible. Bought a second one to have on hand for all the winter illnesses.
Made taking a rectal temp easy when our newborn was sick which is scary enough. She fussed less with them thermometer than with checking by her armpit!
I'd like for the case to snap closed. The point of the case is for ease of storage and keeping it sanity. The case just falls off. It's one more piece of plastic I have to keep in order. I already have a whole baby to keep in order. Why this?? Otherwise, it's easy to use and accurate.
I am such a fan of other Frida products, but as a nurse and a mom, I can't recommend this thermometer. The only reason I didn't give it 1 star is because it functions wonderfully other than its main function: taking a temperature. I like that you can't advance the probe too far into their bottom and that it reads quickly. However, the temperature is always 2-3°F too low. This can be very dangerous because you could take your baby into the ER for supposedly a hypothermic temperature, only for it to be normal. You would unnecessarily expose your baby to germs and potentially invasive measures to rule out some serious problems associated with a low temperature. On the other hand, you could miss when you need to take your baby in for a fever that is too high to reasonably treat at home. TLDR: This thermometer is sleek and user friendly but reports a temperature 2-3°F lower than the true temperature. I do not recommend it.
Double check with another thermometer. I checked my baby's temp and it showed hypothermia so I got recommended to go to hospital, they checked it there with theirs and mine come to find out this thermometer was giving inaccurate readings.
temperature was not consistent. you could take it three times in a row and get different numbers
