[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have a high quality reverse osmosis system that feeds the refrigerator, sink tap, coffee machine, and whole house humidifier. When you have such a setup, the stock carbon filter from Electrolux actually adds carbon sediment to the product water. The bypass is literally just exactly that, an empty cartridge with minimal restriction and less subsequent pressure drop, which is very important for RO applications because of low storage pressures vs standard potable water supply pressure. Once installed this never needs replacement, improves water flow, ice making and saves loads of $$. Let me repeat, even with replacing filters regularly on my commercial RO system, it's still cheaper than buying the std filter for these refrigerators! Plus the product water is superior to the fridge filter alone. Water testing proved this, since the fridge came with the carbon filter and I had to order this separately, allowing me to test both the carbon filter and RO, and RO with bypass. The bypass was cleaner!!! No plastic taste noticed, please ensure you properly maintain your RO system, regularly sterilize as per mfgr instructions, and remember that the piping in an RO system, the fridge etc, is all polyethylene anyway… never use CU in a RO system.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] My water supply at the fridge was low. I have a reverse osmosis drinking water system. I thought why should I filter the water again. After installing the bypass filter the water flow at the refrigerator more than doubled. That is exactly the result I was hoping for. Thanks.
So in other words, the other reviews should be 5 star - because a bypass doesn't actually filter, it bypasses! This is great for rental properties where I don't want to get a call because the fridge is leaking when the tenant hasn't changed the filter in however long. Thank you for this!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since using this filter I have more ice and seems to even dispense water better. I am very pleased I bought it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Our ice maker water line was freezing after we installed a reverse osmosis (RO) system to filter the water. The water line hasn't frozen since we replaced the old filter with this bypass unit.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Best price around usually it would be cheaper to order else were
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Wish I would have known about it sooner. It would have saved me a lot of time and money.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Since I have Reverse Osmosis (RO) routed to my fridge, I needed a bypass to increase the speed at which I could dispense water; I also didn't want to waste money on unnecessary filters. Unfortunately, the bypass makes the water taste like plastic. I have to direct guests not to use the fridge water because it tastes so bad. All things considered, I find this product nearly worthless! Wish I could get my money back. Frigidaire -- Tip: Make a sturdy glass bypass to avoid this issue. Plastic is cheap but its not ideal for water-drinking. Your product ruins the water.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Unbelievably expensive for a bit of plastic that does no filtering. This is the sort of item that should be included with the refrigerator for free.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] After replacing old filter with new one our water and cubes are not edible. Made them both taste awful. Now buying bottled water and ice from store. How can I fix this issue?
