I would recommend this item because it's inexpensive compared to other units and it does work well, I found it relatively easy to install once you figure out how to finagle the unsealed portions of the window when you're done - I used blue tape. It's easy to use, I love the remote. unfortunately mine came missing a caster wheel but normally people don't just roll the surround unless to put it in storage for the winter.
I bought this for a good sized bedroom... about 12' x 14'. It is a great unit, cools it easily, a little noise but I don't mind because it helps drown out the traffic noise from the busy street in front of my house. The only down side for me is the hose would have been easier to install if it slipped over the flange on each end and then you just put a clamp around it, instead of being pushed inside the flange with only some ridges in the plastic to hold it in, the hose ends slipped out a few times before I got them where they'd would stay in place. But the important part is I can sleep without sweating now, the heat and humidity in middle Tennessee is no joke in the summer and this cured it without having to resort to a window unit.
I bought this back in April and I finally got it set up last week. I got this to replace my Haier one and wanted one that was more new and this one is much better than my old one, it has an alert notification system to tell me when it's time to clean the filters and to drain the water from the tank when it's full. This air conditioner cools down my room so fast and even at low speed it keeps my room cool on certain warmer temperature days.
The noise was at acceptable level. The most amazing thing is that this 3 in 1 portable AC has dehumidifier function. When I turn on dehumidifier, it not only helps dehumidify the room, but also cool down the room! Amazing.! Therefore I didn't even use the AC function the whole summer!
Bought this for the bedroom. I had to cut the window kit to 20 inches for a vertical insertion, since our windows close horizontally. Also, I had to cut some plastic off the edge of the kit for vertical insertion. Otherwise, the kit would not fit. It cools the bedroom well, and our hallway, and a bit of the livingroom. (1 bed apt) I had to place the window kit with the venting hole at the top of the window. Could not get in in with the hole at the bottom. When it gets warmer our 2nd a/c will be installed in the living room. I did not need the foam or screws. I did not want to drill into the window frame, since we live in a rental.
It blows cold air but I've left it on in the room at night for 8-10 hours and it does make it the room cool but not cold. It haven't had any issues with water leaking like people were talking about yet but it's only been a week. The installation was quick and easy so no problems with that
Installation is harder than it should be. Putting the caps on either end of the vent hose was a nightmare. The hose is collapsing while you are trying to twist the two end caps on. I would highly recommend that the manufacturer figure out a way to ship the hose with both end caps secured so customer does not have to deal with this frustrating task. Other than that the unit is operating as I expected and no complaints. It does a nice job of cooling down a previously hot bedroom size 15 X 15 ft.
This is my 3rd unit under warranty in less than 11 months. The first one smelt very bad of an electrical grease smell and had a very loud rattle noise. The second one only worked for a few months then stopped blowing cold air. The third one I just got is super loud, beeps constantly and continuously turns on and off by its self and sends notifications to my phone saying the timer has turned on then off. It can do that 20 times in one night. I have never used the timer or even pushed the button.
Produces far more heat (exhaust) than cooling air. Routing the heat outside is absolutely necessary for effective room cooling. That said, the ratio of room cooling to heat removal is extremely low for a significant time before the cooling becomes appreciable. A more powerful unit would have been a better investment for my cooling area!
Bought this to replace a similar one (different brand), which I've had for 4 years. That one required constant drainage and bucketing as much as 5 gallons per day out of the house. It seemed that had clogged up. Instead of troubleshooting or repairing, I decided to buy a new (better?) unit. It turns out that my old unit put out much colder air, even though it was not working properly! AND, this unit requires drainage, too! That WAS NOT stated anywhere in the online description. It will be a miracle if this unit can even cool my small room, inside a mobile home, when temps go higher than 80° and the sun is shining. Now, I'm faced with trying to even find another AC unit to buy. As expected, the current heatwave throughout the country has caused supplies to be limited or completely sold out. And, in case that is not enough of a problem, I will need to repackage this one to return it. I'm 70, widowed, physically disabled, and have chronic health issues. THIS IS NOT WHAT I EXPECT FROM FRIGIDAIRE!!! 😡
