Review: Frogg Toggs Women's Ultra-Lite2 Rainsuit (Khaki, Size 2X) The Frogg Toggs Ultra-Lite2 Rainsuit is a perfect blend of functionality and portability, and for those needing a generous fit, the Size 2X delivers on necessary layering space. This suit isn't designed for heavy-duty outdoor work, but for travel, backpacking, emergency kits, and light to moderate rain showers, it's an absolute winner. Performance and Fit (5/5 for its Category) The "Ultra-Lite" name is well-earned. When packed into its included stuff sack, the suit (jacket and pants) takes up barely more space than a paperback book and weighs practically nothing. This alone makes it ideal for travel where every ounce and inch counts. Waterproof and Breathability: The non-woven fabric effectively repels light and moderate rain. Unlike traditional, heavy rubber rain gear, the material is surprisingly breathable. You won't feel like you’re immediately overheating the moment you zip up, which is a common failing of budget rainsuits. Fit (Size 2X): I found the 2X to be generously sized, which is exactly what you want in a rain suit. It's designed to be worn over clothes, and the ample room in the shoulders, chest, and hips allowed me to comfortably wear it over a fleece jacket and jeans without restriction. The waist of the pants is elasticized, providing a flexible fit, and the leg openings are wide enough to slip on over boots. Key Pros Exceptional Lightness and Packability: The primary selling point—fantastic for tossing into a hiking pack or suitcase. Layering Friendly: The generous sizing (especially in 2X) ensures you can wear substantial layers underneath. The seams are good and the zipper works great, zipping up over layers and even a light jacket. The pants are especially roomy! Good Value: Provides reliable rain protection at a very competitive price point. Breathable Fabric: Minimizes the clammy, suffocating feeling of non-breathable plastic ponchos. Areas for Improvement Durability: As expected with ultra-light material, it’s not tough. A sharp branch or rough fall could easily snag or tear the fabric. Care must be taken around brush or when sitting on rough surfaces. The "Crinkle Factor": The material is inherently noisy. Walking around in this suit produces a distinctive crinkling sound that you should be prepared for, especially in quiet environments. Color (Khaki): While the Khaki color is neutral and pleasant, the material's slightly translucent nature means bright colors worn underneath may show through subtly. Final Verdict If you need an affordable, feather-light, and reliably waterproof emergency or travel rainsuit, the Frogg Toggs Ultra-Lite2 is unbeatable. The Size 2X ensures excellent coverage and flexibility, even over bulky clothing. Just treat it gently, and it will keep you dry through numerous wet adventures. It’s perfect for the occasional downpour, though I'd recommend something heavier-duty for continuous, all-day rain or bushwhacking.
Lightweight, waterproof, wind resistant & very comfortable.
Jacket fit great, but you could put 2 people in the pants. I bought a 2X and the pants are unusable.
I loved my Frog Tog raincoat of 8+ years but the inner lining was cracking so ordered closest thing I could. Way too thin - basically a light covering like a thin camp poncho with matching pants. Biggest disappointment was size - could not snap around my waist. I’m XL typically so an XXL should have fit. Order a size up - or two!
The first time I had to use them, the back seam on the pants tore out. The seam gave out. I ordered 2 sets but only one came.
I had the pleasure of using my rainwear last week and the top ripped along the seam, so now I have to go through the inconvenience of returning or finding a seamless 😞
The material is very cheap. My finger went through it like a trash bag. The seams came apart when bending or moving, couldn't hold.. Thank you for full refund.
These ripped right up the seam within minutes of wearing. Not happy at all
Bought this set for when it rain and after one use the pants already tore
I love the Frogg Togg brand but the pants in the suit spilt down the crotch the first time I put them on. I’d suggest buying a size up if you plan to be active in the suit.
