Worth Every Penny

EP April 10, 2026

The first time I had chai was when my Indian neighbor made it for me with fresh ginger root, tamarind, cardamom, etc. It was incredible. I used to make it like she did; however, I'm no longer inclined to put in the work. I decided to take a leap, expense wise, and try Frontier Co-Op's chai; because I don't care for the trendy, mass-produced brands. (Tazo was quite good in the early part of the millennium, btw.) Fortunately, I'm DELIGHTED by Fairtrade's chai! It's fresh and robust, though somewhat heavy on the cinnamon and cardamom, so other flavors struggle a bit to get through. It recommends 1 teaspoon per 8 oz of water, but I use 1 1/2 teaspoons, which may be why subtler flavors struggle to get through. : ) I make my own teabags with small tea filter bags, which I staple closed. In addition to my delight in finding a delicious chai, I'm thrilled to find one that's mostly fair trade and organic. These products, along with the companies that produce them, are rapidly disappearing at the time they should be proliferating. Fwiw, I'm a random customer who gets nothing for this review.

Best cup of tea I've ever had

Zachery November 30, 2025

I grew up on Southern style Lipton and generic black tea bags. I didn't know what I was expecting getting this, but it makes Lipton taste and feel like tea's equivalent of instant coffee, and I say this as no small thing. The flavor is deep, and rich, and goes perfect on it's own or with cane sugar. The aftertaste is pleasant, and has a slight floral note. The energy you get from drinking the tea is also much more potent. I've had three heaping cups since it arrived yesterday and I've been satisfied with every sip. This is what tea, even sweet tea was meant to taste and smell like.

High quality tea

Warren May 24, 2026

This was just what I wanted. We like to brew a cup of tea in the evenings, and I like the Earl Gray flavor and I like to use loose leaf tea. This was just what I wanted. However, since I like just a hint of the bergamot flavor, I brew a pot with 2/3 regular black tea and 1/3 this earl gray tea. You might like it brewed differently.

I make a gallon of ice tea everyday. This Tea is very course. I had to let it “soak” in the coffee pot basket for about 5 minutes. All said and done it's pretty good.

Organic and fair trade. Great aroma.

SecretSquirrel October 28, 2025

Price per pound. Also, the tea has a great aroma and very good taste. Highly recommend this tea. The fact that it is organic and fair trade also contributed to my purchasing it.

Another score with frontier coop

Robert February 12, 2026

Tastes great with milk and feels clean like organic should, but unfortunately the tea is such small particles - but the price tag is small as well!

What was disappointing with this brand is it says organic but read the fine print, it's mixed with non organic tea. The tea leaves have been ground up, which makes me think the quality isn't there. I will go back to purchasing my more expensive brand.

Could be not organic

Courtney April 16, 2026

The biggest bummer about this product is what the bag says in fine print, that wasn't listed online in the product description: "Fairtrade Organic Irish Breakfast Black Tea may be mixed during processing with non-certified organic Irish Breakfast Black Tea on a mass balance basis, total 100%." If that is the case, then why did I buy certified organic black tea? What a deceit. I've had many different brands of black tea (have used it for years in my kombucha making process), and this is one of the lightest smelling, lightest tasting black teas I've had. Disappointed and won't be purchasing again.

The worst tea

Johnathan November 10, 2025

This has to be the worst-tasting tea I have ever tried. That includes the cheapest, generic bagged tea that is nothing but tea dust. The taste is nothing but charcoal and tannins. I tried everything in my bag of tricks to get it to taste even acceptable, but all I could do is reduce the effect, never eliminate it. Assam tea is my absolute favorite. This... thing? It's an abomination. Maybe I got a bad batch, but I will be avoiding this brand in the future.
