I've ate a lot of chicken in my 68 yrs.. but I can't ever remember cooking or eating a chicken that was so tough! I baked it rubbed it down with butter and olive oil.. seasoned it well. I promise you she was one tough hen.. she didn't have to worry about bringing no roosters to the yard! She was also an expensive hen .. I just knew she would be tasty but I was so disappointed. I make chicken salad out of my left overs. I couldn't even get the leg quarters off the bone. I threw out a lot of chicken. So it was wasted money.
The skin was very very tough almost like leather. The legs and wings were very very hard to separate from the body. It was very very greasy. The meat was moist and tasty but a project to take off the bones. There were lots of fat, skin, and other scraps to feed to the critters who need them at this time of year
( I baste my roast chickens every thirty minutes to keep it juicy) and even after all the basting, it was still like chewing on rawhide. Disgusting and inedible is being nice!!!! This had the texture of a turkey, marked as chicken, and it was so bad that we threw it out. I have a second frozen one that I will be returning to the store as I refuse to waste the time or propane to cook it
This chicken was a sub, which I approved, but I would not recommend it to anyone. The skin was so tough that I couldn't remove the wings or thighs, I couldn't even cut through them with a knife. We could only eat the breast meat, I threw the rest of the chicken in the trash.
Chicken was extremely tough when cooked. When I took it out of the package it had brown spots that looked liked bruises. I cooked it anyway and it was really bad. It was strangely, juicy but extremely tough. I wound up up throwing into a pit of water to make dog food, very low quality chicken. Will not buy again.
I've cooked plenty whole chickens in my day and this is by far the worst!! It was very tough and rubbery. I normally spatchcock and bake in the oven and that is what I did. After a while, when it should have been done, I tried cutting it and it was so very hard to cut so I figured I cook a little longer as I've never cooked this brand of chicken and it was a no go. I originally ordered Perdue whole chicken and I did not select this as my substitution so I dnt know why they sent it but I hope they never try to send this to me again as I will definitely call corporate. I've never had a bad experience with chicken I love chicken but this right here I absolutely hated everything about it!
This is the most disgusting thing I have ever seen, and I roast a chicken at least once a week. My usual order was not available, so I got this . . . thing. The skin was gray, it was leaking blood everywhere (a bad sign about packaging), may have been frozen, thawed, and refrozen several times? I have never been so grossed out by a chicken in my life (I'm 59 years old and have seen thousands of chickens). I went ahead and baked it, knowing I would not go near that grey nasty skin, but the result was horrific. The meat was tough, springy, and just wrong. We threw it in the trash, didn't even give it to our animals it was so disgusting. DO NOT ORDER THIS. Ever. It's not fit for dogs, cats, pigs, or chickens let alone humans.
This is the 2nd time to try this brand both times after preparing it either baking it or boiling it, it was absolutely horrible and I had to throw it out. Even the skin on the product was so tuff I couldn't tare it away from the meat which was so tough a knife couldn't cut properly. I've been a good cook for 50 plus years, there is definitely something very, very wrong with this product. Please check into to this, my dog ate a 1/2 a cup boiled for 1 %261/2hrs low - medium heat it should have fallen apart but no... My dog had severe diarrhea, so glad I threw it out. Date was good, thawed overnight in the fridge, so why does this continue to happen only this brand so far...
everyone in the household said to never buy this brand again. I roasted this chicken as I always do with the Walmart brand and it was tough, disgustingly grose, it took over 2 hours to cook it to done. I had stuffed it as I always do and some of the stuffing was still raw. I think that is enough and I won't buy this brand again. BLT
If I could give it a 0 I would. This really burned my biscuits. . The only reason I am even writing this so people can never ever waste a penny on this crap. The skin was so thick and stick to the meat it was inedible. This was a so called substitute for Tyson All Natural Whole chicken. Dark meat couldn't even be carved like w$%26 . w€8 A hen is NOT a chicken not like you'd expect to get if you were buying a rotisserie chicken from the store. They are NOT baking Gosh Darn It Hens. I'm so mad this was a sub and it was terrible and i marinated it and cooked it wasting all my time and effort. Wasted even more time writing this.
