I am 47 years old and I was in the worse shape of my life at 213lbs and only 5'2". My knees hurt, my lower back ached and I couldn't walk up one flight of stairs without being out of breath. In January 2011 I went to a wedding and I was appalled at the pictures of myself, I had enough...I had to do something. I started dieting but was afraid to excercise because of my bad knees, even walking was difficult. One day I saw the CorePlus Reformer Workout with Mari Windsor in the store and I thought let me try it since you do it laying down it won't bother my knees. That was the day my life changed...at first I could barely do any of the excercises but let me tell you...today is July 7th less then 6 months since that wedding and I have lost 54lbs, went from a size 20 to a size 10 and I am not only able to keep up with the CorePlus Reformer workout DVD but while Mari Winsor is talking and explaing the excercise I am doing 2 or 3 times the reps. I have never looked better, even when I was in college! But more importantly I feel so strong, so in control and so powerful, I have definition in my arms without adding bulky muscles, you can see beautiful triceps, I have gorgeous legs and I am wearing short skirts for the first time in 10 years! And I even bought a 2 piece bathing suit. My husband told me the other day he feels like he is having an affair on his wife...with his wife!! LOL!!! I have more energy than I'v ever had, I am more productive at work, with my family and my love life is better than ever. I finally found the answer for me, I watch my diet and do the CorePlus Reformer a minimum of 3 times a week. My knees and lower back no longer hurt, I even started jogging twice a week and I love it! Thank you Gaiam, thank you CorePlus Reformer and thank you Mari Winsor...Mari I feel like I know you personally, I love the last line in the dvd - it sticks in my head all day..."Be consistent, your gonna love the results" I do Mari...I love the results! < 3
I enjoy it more every time I do it! The routines are fun, fast and make you feel great when you're done.
Even though I'm Petite (5'4") and pretty new to Pilates, I found this Dvd workout easy to use from the get go. I'm flexible in some parts but not all, especially my arms - can not reach back yet with the band. But I try to use the workout at least twice a week and it has gotten easier since I bought it a month ago. I did do Pilates at a sports club a couple of times and have done yoga. But doing this at home has helped me with my endurance. I have RA, FM and other autoimmune illnesses, that make it difficult to go to gyms and maintain memberships. So doing these workouts at home is a very positive thing.
This product is easy to figure out, but the exercises are challenging. I didn't realize how un-limber I had become!! I am a walker - around 15-18 miles weekly. This workout provided an excellent addition to my "usual." Good product; excellent price!!
I love the coreplus reformer. The exercises are just the right amount of difficulty. I can do most of the exercises but not the full amount of reps yet. The only problem I have with the coreplus reformer is that I"m tall (5'10") and some of the exercises feel like I'm stretching the bands farther than they should be stretched. For example, when I put the loops around my feet and hands and stretch my hands over my head!! Whoa!! I've noticed that with a couple of the exercises the women in the video's bands are slack before they stretch, whereas mine is already stretched before I even start the "stretch". Maybe they could make the reformer in different sizes like they do the balance ball. Not everyone is the same size!!
I love this product. I have been doing Pilates for 5 years. I work out at home only, since it doesn't give me the excuse of not being able to make it to the gym. I didn't want to go to the expense of purchasing any large equipment and adding this reformer to my other Pilates workouts has been great. It mimics the more expensive and bulky equipment you find at a gym with the convenience of being able to take it with you anywhere. It really works your entire body. I have noticed an improvement in strength and muscle tone since I started adding the reformer to my Pilates repertoire.
Be prepaired to work. More challenging than I thought. You can get tangled up at times so have the pause button ready on your remote. Mari keeps a good pace and there are three seperate sections. If your looking for a change/challange over regular mat pilates I recomend this product.
I really wanted to love this but found it awkward to use and made the flow bumpy. I had difficulty performing some of the exercises and hope I can get better with practice , although I'm not sure I'll grab it often. Good level of resistance. Be aware...made of latex.
I was excited to get this interesting band but I got rid of any DVD player ages ago. Can only ding a 5 min video on YouTube so really don't know how to use it. No paper manual.
I was using the reformer in accordance with the instructions and one of the four clover leaves just snapped out of place, almost smacking me in the head with the hard plastic handle. I have been taking yoga, pilates, dance and other movement-based classes, along with my own personal practice for years. I've been wary of props like this in the past but this came highly recommended by my pilates instructor. Unfortunately it is cheaply made and subject to breaking easily. I don't want to go through the hassle of returning it, so I guess I'll just throw it away. A waste of money, unfortunately.
